This is what Gun Confiscation looks like...

More guns absolutely equals more gun murders. Guns don't make people safer when you look at the statistics. The data is clear.
You are simply wrong, and even left-wing Wikipedia proves it.

The USA has the most firearms per capita at 120/100 people. The firearm homicide rate is 4.46/100k

Honduras has only 10 guns/100 people, yet their firearm homicide rate is 67/100k, the highest in the world and FIFTEEN times the rate of the USA.

Go to the page linked above, you'll find the columns can be sorted. You won't find any correlation between guns per capita and firearm homicides per capita, because there isn't any.

How many Kiwi's are gonna suddenly lose their guns in the bushes? Or simply ignore the buyback.

I know I sure as hell wouldn't comply.

You're right. No gangs in New Zealand.

Biker gangs stand guard by NZ mosques at first Friday prayers

It's fun to try and shift the blame to anything BUT the fucking elephant in the room.

The blame belongs to the perpetrator. Nobody else. The gun didn't fucking grow legs and walk in there by itself, idiot.

Of course. So let's prevent PEOPLE who shouldn't have guns from being able to get them. Let's focus on which PEOPLE should be able to have them. Sound good?

We already have that. Law abiding citizens are allowed to own guns. People convicted of felonies and DV are not. What more do you want?

Laws that work because clearly we don't have those.
When do criminals obey laws, fool?

They care so much they disarm them all. A fate that will not happen here.

Sure he could. He would have just had to reload more.

This country is sick.

New Zealand Police "Changes to Firearms"

"As of 3pm 21 March 2019 changes have been made by an Order in Council to ensure the immediate safety and peace of mind of New Zealand communities.

The Order in Council [Arms (Military Style Semi-automatic Firearms) Order 2019 (link is external)] will bring two additional groups of semi-automatic firearms within the definition of a Military Style Semi-automatic (MSSA) firearm:

a semi-automatic firearm that is capable of being used in combination with a detachable magazine (other than one designed to hold 0.22-inch or less rimfire cartridges) that is capable of holding more than 5 cartridges; and
a semi-automatic firearm that is a shotgun and is capable of being used in combination with a detachable magazine that is capable of holding more than 5 cartridges."

This encompasses virtually ALL clip fed pistols and rifles (other than 22 rimfire). The article goes on to explain "How do I hand in my firearm to Police?" and provides an online form so citizens can register their now illegal weapons during an "amnesty period". They further state that "A buyback scheme is being considered", but give no details.

Bear in mind that all this was instigated by a single mass shooting...
The way the USA should have been.

That wasn't the question now was it, numbnuts. I asked you what magic law you have that stops lunatics. You went on a tangent about other countries. You dare speak of moving goal posts? Answer the question: WHAT LAW DO YOU HAVE THAT STOPS LUNATICS?

Holy shit you're slow. There are lunatics in every country yet every other country doesn't have the gun violence problem that we have. Why is that? This is where you insert your next excuse.

The point you're not getting, dumb shit, is that the method of violence is irrelevant. The violence still exists. Eliminate one means of producing violence, people will find another - hence mass stabbing attacks, sarin gas on subways, suicide bombers at kid's pop music concerts and trucks mowing down crowds of people.

Do you get it yet, or do you need this in crayon?

Ok, so following your train of logic....in all of these other countries that have much stricter access to guns, we should see people killing each other with other methods, like you say, "stabbings, gas attacks, bombings" at a similar rate. But it's not.

Why is that not happening at the same rate as our gun violence is occurring in this country?

As has already been stated, the countries you listed are not plagued by inner city gang violence. If you remove those deaths from your statistics, you would find our rates to be fantastically low.

Source? What data are you looking at that removes inner city gang violence?

You have to compare and extrapolate the statistics, as there are no specific studies that I'm aware of that explicitly weed out gang related homicides. It's not hard to do.

Firstly, there are approximately 33,000 gun deaths per year. Right off the bat, a full 2/3rds of those are suicides. This is easily verifiable through a basic Google search so I'm not going to source this out.

That leaves 11,000 actual GUN related homicides. But guess what? Those also include JUSTIFIED homicides, such as police shootings. We average 390 of those per year (In Opinion: How many Americans do the cops kill each year?)

This brings us down to 10,610.

Next we must eliminate justified gun homicides by private citizens. That averages out to about 213 per year. (Expanded Homicide Data Table 15)

This brings us down to 10,397.

Next, we have to take out accidentals. That is estimated at 546 : (Gun Deaths In America)

So we're down to approximately 9,851 ACTUAL firearm homicides/year.

The CDC did a study of gang violence in 5 cities in 2012. 94% of gang related homicides involved firearms: CDC Online Newsroom - Press Release-Gang Homicides: January 26, 2012

The national gang center estimates 2,000 gang homicides per year: Measuring the Extent of Gang Problems

With 94% of them committed via firearm, that gives us a result of 1,880.

This brings us to a final number of approximately 7,971 non-justified, non-gang related gun deaths per year in a population of 329 million.

That means if you aren't suicidal, a criminal, or just flat out being a moron with a weapon - you have a .000024% chance of being the victim of gun violence.

For what its worth, the National Weather Service estimates the odds you will be struck by lightning in your lifetime at 1/15,300, or .000065%. (How Dangerous is Lightning?)

You literally have over double the chance of being struck by lightning than being shot.

So by all means, tell me more about our "gun violence" problem.

Thanks for mischaracterizing what I said, aswsipe....They don't have the rampant gang culture, like that which infests nearly every major city in the nation.

You may now pound sand up your ass.

Swing and a miss! "Gang culture" is clearly a part of New Zealand but continue to move the goal posts. It's what you do best.
