"States across the country are moving to provide universal free school meals to all our children. Meanwhile, Republicans are trying to stop them from doing just that. The Republican Study Committee (of which some three-quarters of House Republicans are members) on Wednesday released its desired 2024 budget, in which the party boldly declares its priority to eliminate the Community Eligibility Provision, or CEP, from the School Lunch Program. Of note is that the CEP is not even something every school participates in; it is a meal service program reserved for qualifying schools and districts in low-income areas. The program enables schools that predominantly serve children from low-income backgrounds to offer all students free breakfast and lunch - his is what Republicans are looking to eliminate."

About time the GOP is putting together bold new policy initiatives that are popular with the majority of Americans -- it is without question one of the most critical and wildly popular policies with the majority of Americans. Fact of the matter is, schools shouldn't be in the business of providing lunches at all, let alone free lunches. I have long felt that all school cafeterias should either be eliminated or at least outsourced to a patriotic catering company who will not serve children food injected with woke-communist hormones that forces them to be gay Marxists. When you poll average Americans, at least 85% of real Americans want school lunch programs abolished because it enables poor students and their loser broke parents to not get jobs and better themselves. In fact, as one brave Conservative Superstar said, if the loser parents of these children are using the school free lunch program, maybe we should have their kids removed by Child Protective Services....I suggest they be placed in patriotic Christian conservative group homes; so they will be protected from pedo parents who can't even afford to buy their kid's lunch.

"After a far-right Republican state lawmaker claimed there are no hungry people in Minnesota because he hasn’t met any, then voted against a free school lunch program, extremely conservative pundit Ben Shapiro, considered a right wing “thought leader,” weighed in, declaring Child Protective Services – not free school lunches – is the solution."

This is what the left doesn't want the GOP to go public with; they preferred when the GOP would try to distance themselves from their own policies or try to pass them covertly - because if the GOP went public with these policies, they would get overwhelming support. So it is good to see the GOP are taking the gloves off and telling the American people what they stand for -- and not cowering to the woke-left.

Why do you think its a good idea to give free meals to kids whose parents can afford to feed their own damn children?

Why should people feed other people's children? I can understand children in need but the universal thing? No

These policies are so simple and effective you wonder why they havent been adopted before.
At last christians are starting to frame govt policy.

Why do you think its a good idea to give free meals to kids whose parents can afford to feed their own damn children?
Because first of all.....most of the schools covered by this are schools in low income neighborhoods so there is an overall net benefit.

Second of all, if kids getting free lunches is that outrageous to you, then you should have no worries with the GOP campaigning on it.....if you believe the majority of voters want to eliminate school lunches, you should be fine...

Why should people feed other people's children? I can understand children in need but the universal thing? No
Even when it is in bold print you decide to make up shit about it anyway....

If the majority of the schools in this program are schools in low income districts and you can understand helping children in need - why the fuck do you want to end something that helps children in need?

Oh, I know why....because you think it owns the libs...well, we will see if "owning the libs" is as popular as you think it is....I remember when you folks thought cutting Medicare/Medicaid would "own the libs" -- until you got destroyed trying to run on it...

Clark County did that here a couple of years ago. Now all students in CCSD get free breakfast and lunch, regardless of income, so even the rich kids from Summerlin and Seven Hills can eat for "free" at school at a cost of tens of millions of dollars. Meanwhile, the school district complains they don't have enough teachers and they have over 40 kids shoved in one classroom.

As a rule, people view "free" things as worth what they pay for them.
The meals are not "free", and it is a form of lying to allow children to think they are.

Why is it again that schools should feed students for free when these same parents are already getting government assistance to feed their kids? Isn't that kind of double-dipping?

This is a great move. In Spokane, they are giving every child a SNAP card to cover the cost of the free breakfast and lunch throughout the summer. These fucking communists won't be happy until they have us all sucking at the government tit.

It isn't just welfare kids. There is no income requirement. Communist Spokane is proof.
