Things that make you go 'hmmm'

Instead, I’m troubled by the gaping contrast between their political rhetoric and their own experience. Through the right-wing groups that they control and fund, and through their own statements, they describe an American economy that is so overrun with rules and regulations, so handicapped by high taxes and so deeply hostile to the interests of the wealthy that it has become difficult if not impossible to do business.

They have a special degree of disdain for President Obama. This summer, in a secret convention in Colorado of some of the nation’s wealthiest people, Charles Koch urged attendees to donate a million dollars apiece to his effort to defeat Obama, a fight that he called “the mother of all wars over the next 18 months, for the life or death of this country.”

Yet as the chart above demonstrates, despite the crippling restrictions allegedly placed on capitalism, the two brothers have somehow managed to more than quintuple their combined wealth, from roughly $7.5 billion to $50 billion, over the last seven years. In the last three years alone, most of it during the presidency of the much-despised Kenyan Marxist usurper destroyer of America, they have increased their wealth by a remarkable $20 billion. That three-year increase alone is more than 200,000 times the median household wealth in this country.

Again, I don’t begrudge them that success. I just don’t understand how they can then turn around and complain incessantly about how terribly this country and this administration treats them and their peers, because incontrovertible evidence to the contrary is right there on their own bottom line.

What more do they want?

All of it, and the power to go with it. That's my guess.

It seems all the Republican candidates are building their campaign around hatred for Obama and their promise to make major cuts in the size of government. The problem with this approach is that Obama remains personally popular with voters even thou his job performance is mediocre. Cutting hundreds of billions of dollars from government spending will translate into millions of loss jobs. This will not set well with the 14 million unemployed and tens of millions worried about their job.

Have the Koch brothers actually complained? I understand that they have made donations and efforts to promote their business, but who wouldn't and how is that complaining about their bottom or any other line? From the article in the link I conclude that they are activists in supporting business and free enterprise, and other business by supporting a healthy busines climate. How is that complaining?

Link to an example of their doing that please, not someone complaining about a hypothetical complaint supposedly made by someone else.

Both sides have the super wealthy, it's not just a republican thing.
George Soros took 10 billion of his money and shorted the British Pound....which really sank the economy of Britain. I haven't seen or heard of the Koch Bros. doing something like that, but hey....you want it to be a conservative thing, feel free.

You could say the same thing about how much Soros really wants? Or, his motives for that matter?

Are you actually mentally incapable of checking one of your own without taking retaliatory shots across the aisle.

Can you see the Koch bottom line. Can you see how hypocritical their claims are, in the face of their wealth, which is growing by leaps and bounds, while they bitch that the exact opposite is true?

Can you just this once, own something.

I spent the day with a brilliant woman, discussing the possibilities of what the future holds. We're wondering if Canada will annex us, if things get as bad as the Repubs/Tea Party/Koch clan are shooting for.

It's my personal hope that there's enough sanity left in the country to counter what they have in mind.

I own a lot, Ms. Boop. I'm one who points out that both sides have them...it's not a left or a right thing. I just like to point out the hypocrisy of the left. They can harp on the Koch bros. but when someone points out someone from the left, it's completely different. How many times have the koch bros. been to the White House bending a presidents ear? hmmmm?
Sorry, it's just the way I roll.

But you didn't. You say you do, but you don't. Because you still haven't address the Koch Brothers bottom line, and how much they've benefited from what they claim as "horrible business conditions" under this administration.

First of all, lets be honest...it is a horrible business climate, it started under Bush towards the end of his second term and has gone downhill since.
Yes, they have made money under these conditions...so have I. I made better money in the 90's thru 2006. The Koch bros are rich and are in the right industry, that industry is where money can be made, that doesn't mean it's a good business climate, Ms Boop. I think they can say what they want to say...I mean it's America.

The question is not how much they made but how did they make it? Fact is they are obviously smarter than the average businessman. Even in these hard times where great companies like GM fall flat on their faces what did the Koch brothers do?

"Originally involved exclusively in the oil refining and chemical business, Koch Industries has expanded to include process and pollution control equipment and technologies, polymers and fibers, minerals, fertilizers, commodity trading and services, forest and consumer products, and ranching, producing a wide variety of well-known brands, such as Stainmaster carpet, Lycra fiber, Quilted Northern tissue and Dixie paper products."

Damned if they didn't get some of my money, Just put in some new Stainmaster and we always have Dixie paper products in the house.................

By the way, politically they seem to support libertarians mostly.............Though I could be a little off on that.....

So how on EARTH did that happen. Hence the thread title.

THEY HAVE That's the key words....most haven't been as fortunate as THEY. It is a bad business climate, and THEY are stating it. THEY are in the right industry....but, THEY still can speak the truth.

And, what is the complaint? Folks made profits?

So what?

Jealous?
You got it! That is why socialist lefties hate capitalism, they are not smart enough to get rich on their own, so they have to take the riches money and spread it around. Idiots.

I think that's the bottom line with a lot of these guys. They already have plenty of economic clout, now they want to see if they can get more politcal clout and even become a defacto gov't themselves.

If these guys could have their own little city-state where they pay the citizens shit to do their bidding they would.
Like that idiot socialist Soros, who backs the idiot socialist obamaturd.

Silver is dropping in price fast. Short an ETF in silver or buy a contrarian one.

The thing that makes me go "hmmm" the most is the complete deletion of the details of the Clinton State Department's summary of Saddam Hussein's Iraq off the face of the internet and having the Good ship Lollipop version of his war crimes posted at Wikipedia in today's search for "Saddam Hussein War Crimes." Sanitized is about the only word I can use to describe this version. Also, there is a vague internet sanitization of WOMDs including sarin gas and nuclear evidence our fighting men actually found following 2003, to make it look like pundits are correct for the lie that they found no "important" WOMDs there.

Saddam's trial and execution by the oldest court in the world that goes back to the days of Hammurabi is short. Other press stories imply the grandiose faerie tale that America had anything to do with this trial. Other than try to keep nutcases from murdering more trial judges, that's about the extent of our influence over that trial.

The left claims it is a frivolous war, and there is screaming to try both President Bush and Vice-President Cheney in some kind of International Court, and I still remember Mrs. Clinton's cutsie little sign she held up at the WTC within 2 months after the 9/11 disaster saying "Bush GNU" (it was in all the papers). That's gone from the internet.

Obama made one speech after another claiming everything that went down before he was elected was "Bush Fault." That continued for 18 months until Rahm Emanuel went back to Illinois to run for mayor. Now Obama is blaming Bush a little less often, although his minions often reference Bush when anything they decide to do goes awry. Their base accepts everything based on their refusal to hear the other version of what happened based on facts our military turned back.

On the recent killing of a 9/11 collaborator and instigator of several other attacks on America, which I agreed needed to be done based on even one of the incidents (such as 12 of our servicemen and women shot in cold blood by an extremist who should have been in jail for traitorous statements he made to military personnel before he went ballistic following his conversation with one or more of the dudes in Yemen. I am defending the act alongside the very people who condemned Bush for going after by far the world's most heinous and prolific terrorist, Saddam Hussein, who had his finger in every get-America plot pie including the attempted murder of an American President which has been scowled by the left as "Bush2 did it for Daddy" rather than to be horrified at the thought Saddam Hussein masterminded the murder of a WWII hero and American President, George H.W. Bush.

I don't see there's anything I can say or do except try to let people know what revisions have been made in history, except and but go "hmmmm."
