I prefer tracker balls, but mine has jumped the track (hee.)

I now have the one that involves the thumb, Logitech. I used to have the one with the ball between left and right click, so I may go with that again.

Any recommendations?

Try a "Bamboo" pad....
Basically as giant touch pad mouse that allows ultra fine motions graphic items.
