The wall is paid for....

...some of you will have to find a new reason to claw and scratch your face.

he fight over who will foot the $12-$15 billion to fund Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border wall is no longer an issue after one person could be forced to pony up the bill for it under the most ironic of circumstances. News is breaking right now from one of the most outspoken advocates of the border wall outside of President Donald Trump, who just dropped a bomb to solve the funding problem with one simple solution.

The money for the wall is already in America’s possession, we just need to get permission to use it now and the one who it belongs to has no say in the matter. You could call Senator Ted Cruz the best problem-solver with devising the perfect solution to get moving on one of Trump’s biggest and most important campaign promises.

“Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) introduced a bill calling for the use of $14 billion seized from cartel drug lord Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman to be used to pay for the President’s border wall between the U.S. and Mexico.”

Sure they are. I just told you who it was that will pay for. It bothers you doesn't it?

$14B is just a down payment. The Wall will cost almost twice as much and up to $5-10B to maintain....and for what? Terrorists will go around, it doesn't fix the most common cause of illegal immigration (overstay visas) and coyotes will just charge more to go around the wall by sea or lake.

Exclusive - Trump border 'wall' to cost $21.6 billion, take 3.5 years to build: internal report
The US was already spending billions doing a not so good job on the border.
We need a solution, but "the Wall" ain't it. Why not just start arresting and imprisoning all employers and renters who hire, harbor or otherwise support illegal immigration?
That too. But considering the world we live in today, we definitely need to have something that makes it more difficult to enter the US and stop the flow. This so called "wall" will highly equipped and advanced than anything seen so far. Many designs have been submitted and under under review. Democrats are against the wall and illegal immigration because they want to grow their voter base. No secret. They don't give a shit about what it does to our country. If it was up to them, they'd bring in another 20 million undocumented people in.
Fuck the Democrats. The fact remains fixed fortifications can be defeated simply by going over, under or, most probably, around them. You're advocating spending billions on a White Elephant that doesn't fix the problem.

What percentage of illegals walk across the border? What percentage simply overstay their visa? It appears that it's less than a third and over 40%.

Rubio says 40% of illegal immigrants stayed in the U.S. after their visas expired

At best, Tax and Spend Republicans can only fix about a third of the problem, but some portion of those will simply go around the Wall or go to Canada, then cross over.
The visa overstay is something that can be fixed electronically and is relatively inexpensive.

The wall will not "fix" the problem entirely, but is a requirement before we can talk about what to do with the millions of undocumented who are not criminals. That has been the problem so far, we did not address the big problem with the porous border, and gave amnesty or legal status to those that are here, which only encouraged more illegal crossings. You don't "fix" a problem by rewarding bad behavior.
Liberals do.

They should charge a fee to go back and forth across the border to drum up some cash...

"We, The People"....and all other taxpayers who truly do support smaller government and cutting Federal spending, would probably support the lower cost solutions first; fix the overstay problem, arrest those who support illegal immigration, fix laws that encourage illegal immigration. When that is done, if there is still a significant problem, then we can look at other solutions.

FWIW, I fully support tightening up border security; all of our borders. A fixed fortification is a waste, but a virtual wall is effective. We have one now, but it can be "virtually" tightened to net smaller targets.

No, DON'T arrest those who support illegal immigration, arrest those who aid it. :)

Until recently a slight majority walked over the border.

The size of the border crossing problem is very much worthy of addressing directly

AND of course, the border traffic could easily increase, in the absence of serous border control, back above 50% at any time.

First of all, where is that money? Second, you still have to deal with the land owners on the border. Until you settle those two items, the wall is just the pipe dream of a narcissistic ego.
It's already all settled, you can stop pretending now.

Arrest both! The Border Patrol seems to think that a wall or "fence" backed up by technology such as sensors and drones would greatly reduce the number of illegal border crossings, so let's go with those who are on the ground, defending our country every day. What will eventually be approved will not be a "wall" in the traditional sense. It could also be a hybrid of various barriers, based on what the topography dictates would work best. In some places, you might not even need a wall.

The Unlikely Design Proposal For Trump's Border Wall From A Latino-Owned Firm | The Huffington Post

Designs for Trump's border wall are here. They fall into 4 categories.

Of course border crossing is very worth addressing. Who says it isn't? The subject is how to best resolve the problem. I pointed out how the Great Recession reduced border crossings without spending a fucking dime on it. Can you figure out why?

Disagreed. Consider that if the spendthrift "Republicans" blow billions of taxpayer dollars on a White Elephant with an annual upkeep of billions more of taxpayer dollars and it doesn't fix the problem, they'll be massacred in the mid-terms and Trump won't be reelected in 2020. Taxpayers don't like assholes who throw billions of dollars away on "campaign promises" that don't produce results.

You are free to believe "the Wall" will solve most of our immigration problems, but as I've shown on this very thread, it only addresses a fraction of the problems. It's a waste of taxpayer dollars when more effective solutions are readily available.

1. It does addresses a LARGE fraction of the problem.

2. HIstory has shown that talking about what solutions are the most effective, fails completely to solve anything.

3. If all we do is talk, and not get effective results, like all the other times, the massacre will take place. Build the Wall, or we will do nothing.

Non Sequitur. Imagine all you like, but truth is truth.

Agreed. The point is to enact effective solutions, not just throw money at problems like the fucking Democrats.

The truth is that if Trump fails to give his supporters reason to come out in the numbers they did in 2016, we will lose and lose big in 2018 and 2020.

ANd by the time we could normally bounce back from that, demographic shift will have made any such recovery impossible.

Not building the Wall will be a very, very grave mistake.

Building the Wall, and having trouble with deportations and trade would be bad.

NOT building the Wall, requires massive success in nearly every other front to balance.

Disagreed since it's "monument to stupidity" like General Patton said, but we shall see, eh?

he fight over who will foot the $12-$15 billion to fund Trump’s U.S.-Mexico border wall is no longer an issue after one person could be forced to pony up the bill for it under the most ironic of circumstances.

BREAKING: Trump's ENTIRE Wall Just Got Paid For By ONE Person & You Won't Believe Who! ⋆ Freedom Daily
Actually, Under federal drug enforcement seizure law the funds can be released by the DOJ to do just that, It is a deterrent to drug trafficking and thus a permitted use of forfeited property and monies. Many police departments get funds issued (which are granted) by the DOJ every year from this fund.

As I read the federal statute, congress does not need to give its OK. The president can direct the forfeited property/monies be used for that purpose.

Not building the Wall will be a very, very grave mistake.

Building the Wall, and having trouble with deportations and trade would be bad.

NOT building the Wall, requires massive success in nearly every other front to balance.

BUILD THE WALL.
Disagreed since it's "monument to stupidity" like General Patton said, but we shall see, eh?

Patton was a very aggressive general, at a time when that worked very well.

I see no reason to defer to him on immigration policy.

Designs for Trump's border wall are here. They fall into 4 categories.
A nice 300 yard mine field and anti-tunneling mines would do the trick..
