The Sleeping Giant Is Awake: A Quiet States' Rights Revolution Is Happening...

If you read the laws that have been passed you would know that they pertain to weapons manufactured and sold within the state - never leaving the state. The feds have no controls on guns other than for interstate transfer.
If a company in Arizons is manufacturing "assault weapons" and selling them to otherwise legal owners within the state and they do not leave the state then the feds have no power to shut them down or take the guns.

If you claim 2d Amendment right, you throw that theory away. If you claim that intrastate commerce theory, the feds will invalidate with the 2d Amendment theory.

There is no issue here: the state will fail.

There is only posturing by some but no "new reality". Let anyone interfere in the pursuit of a federal officer's duty, and the sky will fall in on the offender.

that is until they repeal prohibition due to public presure

Only in alternate universe where you have 2/3ds of both Houses and 3/4 of the states,

Right now, you got nine people in a leaky rowboat.

when it comes to being reelected, anything is possible. vastly negative public opinion will change the opinion of even the most ardent politician

Probably wont come to all that. Big Brother doesn't want those kind of headaches. He's a Paper Tiger on this. He'll just have to deal with a new reality.

I guess we'll see then, wont we? There is a new reality. A quiet Revolution is happening.

Only in the head of a "select" few.

Exactly. A Paper Tiger for sure. All they have is coercion by way of threatening funding cuts.

It's actually much more than that, if any of those state statutes involve interfering with federal officers in the performance of their duties. There'd be much bigger penalty than a cut off of funds in those cases. Any other scenarios are just a pipe dreams akin to flower child "back to the garden" fantasies of the sixties.

I'm not seeing many options for the Feds on this. There just isn't much they can do. They call in the Military, they get real problems. They don't want that. At least i think they don't.

You don't think the FBI or ATF couldn't just arrest anyone they wanted to. What are they going to do, barricade themselves in the state house? Call out the tanks. :cuckoo:

lol @ states thinking their laws supersede the federal laws.

holy shit. it's like no one ever reads their history books. gotta love the conservative/libertaritards who have the most uninformed, sophomoric misunderstanding of constitutional law. love 'em.

My Lord, how did you even type all that with that shit you call a brain? As we speak, your own fellow Socialists/Progressives are not enforcing Federal Statutes. Try and keep up next time. Dipshit.

Yes, a quiet peaceful Revolution is well underway. More & more States are now reasserting their rights. It really is great to see. Thank you Mr. President for waking this Sleeping Giant.

Wyoming House Approves Bills Exempting State From Federal Gun Control Measures

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Faced with the prospect of new federal gun restrictions, the Wyoming House gave initial approval Wednesday to bills that sponsors say would exempt guns in the state from new regulations while possibly taking the fight to criminals who might choose to attack public schools.

The House voted in favor of a bill that would seek to block the federal government from restricting assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. It amended the bill to specify that federal officials who tried to enforce any ban would be subject to state misdemeanor charges instead of felony charges.

President Barack Obama has called for reinstituting a federal assault weapons ban following the massacre of 20 Connecticut first-graders by a gunman last month.

The House on Wednesday also gave preliminary approval to a bill that would allow citizens who hold concealed carry permits to carry guns on campuses of public schools, colleges and the University of Wyoming.

Rep. Kendell Kroeker, R-Evansville, sponsored the bill to exempt assault rifles and magazines from federal control. He said Wyoming should get its position on record before a new federal ban comes down.

“It is clearly a different case than trying to nullify something that’s already in existence,” Kroeker said...

I suppose now would be a really inconvenient time to mention Wyoming receives 53% more in federal dollars than it pays into the federal government.

Sure would suck for them if that tit suddenly dried up over a law enforcement spat.

I sure hope they can put other peoples' money where their big mouths are.

You want to be all independent and shit, act like it.

It's the Fed's move now. I guess we'll see what they do. Screwing their own fellow Americans wouldn't surprise too many though.

but seriously, what the fuck are you talking about?

Either way, the Dear Leader sure has opened a big ole can of worms this time. The People are pushing back against his Big Brother takeover. Probably not going the way he planned.

Hey numbnuts, you railed against Conservatives/Libertarians for doing the same thing your own fellow Socialists/Progressives are doing. My God, you must be another Public School victim. SHEESH!

Wyoming House Approves Bills Exempting State From Federal Gun Control Measures

The Reagan War on Drugs and the Bush War on Terrorism created more federal intrusion in the destiny of the States than the fabricated hysteria over the 2nd Amendment. I say fabricated because the votes don't exist in Congress to make real changes.

The War on Drugs give Federal bureaucrats massive concentrated power over all state law enforcement. This is why the Bush Fed sent agents into California to overturn the will of the people when it came to drug laws.

Also, research the powers of Homeland Security - not only in terms of their ability to intrude on the states, but their ability to watch and collect data on U.S. Citizens. It makes the old Soviet Union look tame.

Our problem is that the rightwing voter is trapped in a media bubble where they are fed scare stories about nonsense. Meanwhile, behind the scenes, the GOP is passing all this legislation to strengthen Washington's control over the states.

If you want to understand the expansion and concentration of power in Washington, study the Reagan War on Drugs and the Bush War on Terrorism. You need to leave the rightwing media bubble.

At the very least, study what the CATO Institute says on the Bush Patriot Act.

It's sad because the Rightwing voter never finds out what Ron Paul thinks about the Wars on Drugs/Terrorism. Much of what I know about the expansion of Government power through these strategic "wars" comes from Ron Paul and CATO. Unfortunately, Limbaugh, Hannity and the Rightwing press NEVER covers it.

To understand the growth of Big Government, you must understand the truth about Regan and Bush. And you don't need to listen to Rachel Maddow. You can find out the truth from Ron Paul. Just listen carefully to what he says about Washington's Wars, both foreign and domestic. Whenever Washington declares War (on Poverty, Terrorism, Obesity, Drugs), they are merely creating more power for themselves.

The Left expands government by saying: "Hi, I'm from the government and I'm here to help"

The Right expands government by saying: "Hi, I'm from the government and I'm here to protect you."

Problem is: the Right doesn't understand how their leaders have contributed to the concentration of Washington's power. This is why the single biggest obstruction to fixing the problem is Talk Radio and FOX. Point is: you would never hear Limbaugh or Hannity explain how the Wars on Drugs/Terrorism have grown Wahsington's power more than anything else. So a question arises: how do we as a nation set the rightwing voter free? How do we get them more information about what is really happening?

As long as reactionaries imbibe only in the Fox and Talk Radio and Wing Nut Internet Bubble, instead of doing their civic duty and review all material, they will continue to sound even more loony.

The center and the left and the responsible right are distancing themselves, quite correctly, from the reactionaries.

Yeah, a Silver Lining to this Big Brother-takeover mess. This President really has awakened a Sleeping Giant. States are now beginning to get their acts together. This quiet peaceful Revolution is a real pleasure to observe. I didn't think i would ever see one. We do have to thank this President for it.

you lost that battle during the civil war.

nice try though.

The battle, not the War. Looks like the rematch is on. Thanks to your beloved Dear Leader. ;)
