The Bosnian War was being discussed. Kosovar independence is a separate issue; they're ethnic Albanians, not Bosniaks. We were involved in the former conflict through NATO.

That succinctly sums up what happened as a result of WWII, but it all goes back a bit further. Britain promised the land to both the Palestinians for the war fought to overthrow the Byzantine empire, and to the Jews. The Balfour Declaration left the Palestinians high and dry. The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. In reality today there is no difference between Jordanians, Palestinians, Syrians and Lebanese. Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct "Palestinian people" to oppose Zionism.

It makes no difference what the name is. The reality is still the people. They exist regardless of what you call them.
