The Mueller Report is in and as many Americans suspected it did not save the country from itself because the country never needed to be saved in the first place. Remember Prohibition? In 1920 the government was so steeped in the righteous of its beliefs that it outlawed the sale of alcohol. You see sometimes the government concludes that the people make choices that aren’t good for them and it’s the business of government to put a big foot down on those choices because it knows better than the people what’s good and what’s not.

The people elected Donald Trump to the presidency and this was seen as an affront to a wise choice by those who opposed it. Now under our system we have free elections where we choose whom to elect by virtue of single citizen votes in each state. The Electoral College comes into play to preserve cultural diversity in outlying areas that may not be aligned with more populous urban settings. This guarantees a protection against the tyranny of the majority by granting state votes to the contestants thus ensuring a system of fair representation.

The people voted making their choice and the system worked for the people. But the government was beside itself because the system failed for the government. The government had plans for the people and the new upstart president stated in no uncertain terms that he represented the people not the government. “Of the people, by the people and for the people” means just what it says and the new president was standing by it.

The government wasted no time in defending itself against the people. Its agents corrupted different departments of the justice apparatus and launched a huge, fraudulent and absurd investigation accusing the new president of sedition and providing aid and comfort to a long standing enemy while stealing the election in the process.

In effect, the government tried to impose a prohibition on the people’s president with endless, hamstringing investigations. Oddly the president’s opposing candidate actually committed the offenses the president is accused of and skated with the blessing of the government.

The US is a special place and the people run the show not the government. The government’s attempt at presidential prohibition fell way short. It actually elected Trump to a second term. The people know resistance is actually repression.

Sleep well; freedom and liberty remain safe.

Don't rest on your laurels just yet. The dems have not given up on their witch hunt. We need to get thru the 2020 election before we can relax.

/----/ Point well taken. I do disagree with "In 1920 the government was so steeped in the righteous of its beliefs that it outlawed the sale of alcohol."
It had nothing to do with Gubmint self-righteousness. It's well documented that Congress had a steady supply of booze delivered to their offices throughout prohibition. The movement was orchestrated by the industrial complex. They needed sober workers to run their new sophisticated (for the times) factories. You couldn't have drunk workers handling dangerous machinery and expect them to produce quality products.

No, it wasn't. It was orchestrated by females. Once it was established that they would get the Vote, politicians who knew anything about anything quickly abided by their wishes.

90% females. Fact.

As early as 1873, the Women’s Christian Temperance Union (WCTU) of Ohio called for the abolition of the sale of alcohol. They were soon joined in the fight by the even more powerful Anti-Saloon League (ASL)
