Of these 9 worst shootings in modern US history, 4 of them have been in this decade, in fact in the last 5 years. 2 in the 1980s, one in the 1990s, 1 in the 1960s.

Something's going wrong in the US it seems. One a year for the last three years....

There is a lot going wrong in the US. It is now the GOPs turn to try to fix some of that.

There's more of us, we are living on top of one and other.

small cities in the NE are filling up with people leaving NY, small towns that had a sheriff and 2 deputies now need an entire force.

and, imo, I think internet access is driving people nuts.

Living on top of one another. That's so cute.

Singapore population density, 7,804 per KM2, murder rate 0.25
Bahrain population density, 1,917 per KM2, murder rate 0.54
Malta population density, 1,353 per KM2, murder rate 0.96
Maldives population density, 1,154 per KM2, murder rate 0.85
Bangladesh population density, 1,134 per KM2, murder rate 2.51

USA population density, 33 per KM2, murder rate 4.88

Yeah, I mean, take the top 5 countries for population density and compare their murder rate, then find a country with a population density 300 times lower or more, and find a murder rate much higher....

To quote Obama on an issue I agree with him on "democracy isn't easy. It's tough work".

There are no easy answers. Americans believe in liberty, individual pursuits and Free Will as bestowed by God. They also believe in challenging themselves and internal locus of control, their success or failure their own.

That places alot of stresses in a society and some cannot handle it. It's a better system than that in Canada or other socialist countries in which justice doesn't exist, all forms of expression and media variety do not exist. Liberty like this has some consequences and some cannot handle their freedom in a responsible manner.

Let's face it, callously taking the lives of innocent people is as cowardly as it gets. You will find the best and worst in a society of free men. Many who willingly sacrifice themselves for others, and others who simply look to take as the dirtbags involved in senseless mass killings.

You forgot the actual worst mass shooting.

On December 29, 1890, on Wounded Knee Creek in southwestern South Dakota, a tangle of events resulted in the deaths of more than 250, and possibly as many as 300, Native Americans. These people were guilty of no crime and were not engaged in combat. A substantial number were women and children. Most of the victims were members of the Miniconjou band of the Lakota Sioux who had been intercepted by military forces after they fled their reservation in South Dakota for refuge in the Badlands.

And a bunch of people getting elected to govt to do nothing other than make themselves rich.

Yes....something is going wrong. Our moral depravity.

Well part of the problem is the unwillingness of people to accept there is a problem.

Society is mentally ill. Personal responsibility is a concept that has died. The things that bind Americans together are purposefully being torn down. The media lives off the ratings of discourse and division. The entertainment industry sells violent and unnecessary imagery. The two parties are self serving and corrupt. Civility is dead. The drug war failed and added a violent gang culture and healthy black market.
Seems like the perfect shit storm.
But lets blame guns. It's so much easier and we don't have to honestly talk about hard issues. Seems many are on that bandwagon already.

We are independent minded people that are not used to being crowded.

thanks for proving you can't, uhm, feel things through.

What he didn't post was how punishments for murder is those places are handled. Those places don't coddle murderers and make excuses for those committing them based on SES, family background, etc. Bahrain used firing squads and Singapore still hangs people. Maybe the difference is murder rates between the U.S. and those other places is that the others actually punish their murderers and treat them like murderers.
