The most amazing thing in sports

Of all the amazing things about sports, there's one that really sticks out for me.

Think of all the various athletes who participate in worldwide competition, the Olympics being the most obvious example.

All these various athletes are training for their events with:

• Different climates
• Different genetics
• Different backgrounds
• Different cultures
  
• Different training regimens
• Different coaches
• Different lifestyles
• Different diets
• Different living conditions

And yet, when they compete against each other, they still come with a hundredth of a second, or an inch or two, of each other.

I'm not even sure what the hell that means, but it's pretty interesting. And cool.
