The Moment Sandy Hook Parents start cashing in their kids..

I suppose it set free all those children at Sandy Hook, all those students at Columbine and Virginia Tech, and all those slaughtered by the deranged in every other mass shootings in America.

The BIG LIE by the NRA and its supporters is the Slippery Slope Argument, a logical fallacy, that any attempt to mitigate unnecessary violence - some form of gun control - is really a pretense for total confiscation of guns.

Personally I don't care that people keep guns at home, but pushing the envelope to openly carrying firearms is too much. If someone is too scared to go out in public they need psychiatric care, meds and some balls.
You are pretending to know the mind of others. And we have plenty of examples in the world where guns were confiscated. They don't tend to outlaw them initially, but by increasing measures of control. OC is legal in some places, like here, but it has nothing to do with the shootings. An OC ban wouldn't have stopped them if mass murder didn't bother them.

The problem with libs is nothing is enough. No amount of liberty is too big to give up for presumed security. Was it good enough to limit fully automatic weapons? No. Was it good enough to limit access to criminals? No. Was it good to create "gun" free zones where criminals come to slaughter people? No. Was it good to ban pocket knives on planes? No. Was it good to allow give up any of these liberties for small amounts of presumed security? No. Did any of these limits increase security for anyone? No.

In summary, progressives are epic morons when it comes to matters of liberty and security.

You seem to confuse libs with progressives...better sharpen those skills a little better before you step on your tongue...

Excellent summary. I'v found to my amazement that though conservatives aren't always right, leftists are ALWAYS wrong. It takes effort to sustain such a pluperfect record of error. In some ways it's an admirable feat, but there are times I just want to weep for them.

As you've been informed MANY TIMES... "Slippery Slope" is not fallacious, EXCEPT where there is no slope and where there is, the slope is NOT SLIPPERY.

However, what IS fallacious is the appeal wherein one points to a slippery slope, denies its existence and demands that the slimy incline is PERFECTLY sound and that the threat represented by such can be safely ignored.

The Reader should recall that this is a commonly used point of foolishness by the Left. Recall that in the 1960s when Americans noted that "The Great Society" would result in a decay of the Black culture through the undermining of incentive...

It was used when they demanded that "Homosexuals would never demand to be allowed to marry, because Marriage was a union of a man and a woman...".

It was again used when we noted that replacing sound actuarial lending standards with 'fairness' would result in a run on mortgages that would cause the underlying properties to increase in value until the values could not be sustained, at which time the market would crash... .

Rest assured, this is a VERY SLIPPERY SLOPE and to even consider going down it, is foolish in the extreme.

Obviously the Communists won't stop with banning AR's. A complete gun grab is their goal. One Communist wanker on this Board admitted that earlier. So Americans better start fighting for their rights. The Gun Grabbers ain't going away.

All those shootings you cited happened in public. Your argument defeats itself

Really, that's your spin? Yes, all those shootings happened in public, had the shooters been vetted and denied a license it may have been more difficult for them to obtain a gun and ammunition.

Had guns used in such incidents been stolen from licensed gun owners, who left their guns in places easily accessed, and the gun owner had not reported the gun stolen to LE providing identifiers, then that gun owner should lose his or her license and surrender any other guns he or she owns or possesses. That is all about personal responsibility.

Is licensing and other laws a panacea, hell know. But this obsession by some gun owners that any effort by responsible citizens and pols to work towards some forms of control is a charade, to confiscate all guns is a canard.

The Slippery Slope argument is more than a logical fallacy, it's a lie, and an effort to keep an industry as unregulated as possible while instilling fear in the population, so as to increase profits. It is morally corrupt as are those who continue to defend its practice.

..they became assholes. Some law firm enticed them with a bunch of zeros and now they're going to exploit the "good fortune" of their children being killed and laugh all the way to the bank.

I have the utmost compassion for anyone who loses a child, especially to a senseless act of violence. But that compassion dries up quickly when the victims become the agressors, filing a lawsuit that has no merit because people generally understand you can't hold manufacturers responsible for the misuse of their product because that is entirely out of their control.

So to those nine families I would say, don't plan on meeting your little angels in heaven because avarice is the shortest route to hell.
It takes a true scum bag to attack the parents of murdered children. The parents have always expressed the desire for the children's death's to have some kind of meaning and positive effect that might make the future safer for other children. Whether one agree's or disagree's with the political agenda some of the parents have taken is irrelevant. They have a right to promote that agenda and express their views and opinions. Bringing their cases into court is an acceptable way to do this. It will give them an opportunity to remind the world about their children and promote their goals.
Ignoring the logical and obvious reasons the parents are taking the action they have chosen to take, and instead accusing them of trying to make money off the deaths of their children is something only the lowest of the lowlifes in our society would do. We are fortunate to have such low life individuals here at USMB to remind us of what kind of scum occupy our community.

My goodness, you fart BIG. The asshole parents are trying to take the gun manufacturer to the cleaners. Most of the parents have more sense than that so take your self righteous indignation and stuff it.

A wise observation. Communists/Progressives are not classic Liberals. Classic Liberals fight for the Constitution and Civil Liberties. Communists/Progressives only stand up for the Constitution if they feel it's convenient for them to do so.

For instance, when it comes to debauchery like killing babies and pornography, they're the first ones to hop up on their high horses and begin citing the Constitution and their Civil Liberties. It's just a matter of convenience for them. They're not 'Liberals.'

You're silly enough to think a law is going to prevent these things from happening and then you engage in double speak, saying law abiding citizens shouldn't carry in public, but then saying we need a licensing system, which we do in most states, to make sure the right people are carrying. All these shootings have one thing in common and that's that they occur in gun free zones. So you idiotically propose making everywhere a gun free zone like the did in Australia. That's doubling down on stupid.

And I don't call them progressives because the true progressives were the founding fathers creating a liberal constitutional republic in defiance of the prevailing trend in all of human history of slavery, cruel despotism, and the "divine right" of kings and nobility. Leftists are trying to roll back human progress, so if anything, they're regressives.

Yeah, sure. How many guns do you think are in the possession of 300 + million Americans? Only the delusional believe the Federal Government, with all of its checks and balances, has the ability to confiscate all of those guns. There is no concerted effort to do so and any Congress which passed such a law would be replaced at the next general election. Of course some of the more delusional, totally out of touch with reality, believe our Federal Government is tyrannical and plans to eliminate elections.

Hey, the GOP does try to suppress the vote of some Americans. Maybe the Slippery Slopers aren't as out of touch with reality as they seem? Nah, they're nuts.

Well....a whole bunch of them were sent to each place with police to stop the killing...you know...the idea that the only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun...

Just so you know...in real world tests, they tried to stop mad killers in public shootings by sending in good guys with pixie dust.....let's just say the experiment went poorly.....

They're not trying to make people remember, they're trying to get rich off a company that cannot reasonably control what end users do with their product. There are other families that didn't sue, now why do you think that is? So yes, the parents cashing in on their dead children are assholes.

You are just making shit up to try and cover your low life crap. People handle grief different ways. Some families want to put the tragedy behind them and some want to keep it in the forefront of their lives.
