It's quite common after an election victory for the winners to appear magnanimous and willing to work with the other side because everyone's watching, and that's what everyone wants to hear. They want to believe it's true too, but it rarely is if the winners feel like they have brand new leverage to make demands that they also know will be considered unacceptable to the opposition.

So, there will be a period of nice talk, and then it will evaporate like the rain after a shower in the western states.
