It is said that if the USSC outlaws "affirmative action," the colleges will have few tools to meet their "diversity" goals.

Let's think about that.

What are the legitimate "goals" of higher education? Basically, it for them to teach, and for "us" to learn relevant information. That's it. It might be accounting information, historical information, engineering information, information about human psychology or sociology, or an infinite number of other subjects. But colleges are not put there to have "us" experience social phenomena.

In fact, nobody goes to college hoping to learn what it's like to sit in a classroom with people of other races and ethnicities., especially if those people have not gained entrance to the college through MERIT [There's that word again]. No parent sends his kid to college for that reason either. And there can be no doubt that introducing students of a lower academic caliber makes the education part of it a little less rigorous and beneficial.

Indeed, there is no legitimate academic justification for "affirmative action," or "diversity." It MIGHT have a social justification, but that is not the reason why colleges and universities exist. If students - or anyone - wants to have the experience of intermingling with people of other races and ethnicities, there are lots of ways of doing so, many of which involve the consumption of adult beverages. But there are other venues where people can mix. That is not the purpose of higher education. Enrich your life on your own dime, if that's your goal.

The only justification for "diversity" initiatives on campus is to make Leftist faculty and staff feel better about themselves. Which is bullshit.

Thank God for Donald Trump. He made it possible for the USSC to recover its sanity.

I suspect that many college endowments come from rich liberals that affect such policies from behind the scenes.

I would like to see diversity of THOUGHT. Students are being indoctrinated when 95% of professors and staff are leftists.

Why stop there? Why not ban all sports-related activities? They do not fall under accounting, information, etc.

Heck, why even go away to college? Why not just take online courses? If pure education is the only goal.

Sports? Damn right! If I were emperor of the United States, I would outlaw any college sports other than intramural.

We are the only country that pursues this anti-academic insanity, and we are a weaker country because of it.

If older adolescents want to play sports, then they can play "club" sports like they do in Europe. If they want to play professionally and if there are enough of them, then the major league teams can form "minor leagues" for their sports, just like they do in baseball.

Most colleges LOSE MONEY in athletics. They make a few bucks in football and basketball and lose money in everything else, especially women's sports, where the only paying spectators are the players' parents and grandparents.

Can you imagine colleges that are dedicated to the mission of EDUCATION? What a world that would be.

Good for you but you didn't answer all my questions.
