"in America, the law is King. For as in absolute governments the king is law, so in free countriesthe law ought to be king; and there ought to be no other."
Common Sense, Thomas Paine.

Something tragic has happened to the nation. The law is no longer king.

The culprit is the Liberal/Progressive influence, via the Democrat Party.
Winning is the be all and end all....the seeking of power trumps the law.

The latest murder weapon is a bill now in the NY Senate.....

1. "NY Democrats seek citizen rights for illegal immigrants

2. Illegal aliens in New York could score billions in Medicaid and college tuition money — along with driver’s licenses, voting rights and even the ability to run for office — if Democrats win control of the state Senate in November,...

3. ....bill, dubbed “New York is Home,” would offer the most sweeping amnesty available anywhere in the country...
4. .... undocumented immigrants could also apply for professional licenses and serve on juries.

5. The plan hinges on Democrats — who now control both the governorship and the state Assembly — wresting control of the Senate from Republicans, who oppose immigration amnesty.

6. Republicans are already referring to it as the “illegal immigrants benefits legislation” and will make the bill their poster child in elections in more conservative upstate and suburban districts.

4. “This is astounding. This undermines our nation’s immigration laws and procedures.”
[And ends American sovereignty...we become null and void, with no borders, no checks on who enters the nation....terrorists, drug cartels, those with diseases....]"

5. "The bill was introduced during the waning days of the legislative session in June, and is backed by immigrant-rights groups including Make the Road New York, the Center for Popular Democracy, and La Fuente.

6. ...the bill would let illegals vote in local and state elections,...

7. Mayor Bill de Blasio pushed through a new city law that created a municipal ID card that provides some benefits to noncitizens."

If this bill passes, may we expect Obama's Justice Department to challenge the new law's constitutionality, since the Constitution only empowers the national Congress "[t]o establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization" and especially since its provisions would be contrary to current immigration and nationality law? Or does Obama's Justice Department only challenge state laws, like Arizona Senate Bill 1070, that enforce federal law?

Challenge it???

Nah...they'll copy it!

It it was actually limited to State laws and programs, I wouldn't care. Unfortunately, it often used as a backdoor approach to usurp local authority and influence federal policy.
