The Justice Department's Probe Into trump’s Illegal Activities While in the White House is Widening
As stated in The New York Times, special counsel Jack Smith and his team issued a subpoena for information related to the disgraced (and disgraceful) former president trump’s shady business transactions white he was POTUS... and afterward.
“Smith's team overseeing the investigation into Trump's handling of classified documents found at Mar-a-Lago has ‘cast a wider net than previously understood as they scrutinize whether he broke the law’ by taking documents home from the White House and failing to comply with a subpoena for their return, according to the report.”
“The subpoena specifically sought details on the Trump Organization's real estate licensing and development deals in China, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Kuwait, Oman and France dating back to 2017.”(This is despite the vows made by the trump Organization that no foreign deals would be made while trump was at the White House. It’s apparent trump, and his lackeys at trump Organization, felt making such deals was fine when trump was anywhere but the White House.)
An additional subpoena was issued for trump Organization records concerning trump's involvement with the Saudi-backed golf company LIV Golf.
Some of the documents already seized at Mar-a-Lago were found to be related to French President Emmanuel Macron, China, and some Middle Eastern countries.
However, just as the many findings by the January 6th Committee fizzled, trump need only worry about lawsuits brought against him at state level. The moderate Democrats in Congress have zero desire to prosecute nor disqualify trump from holding future federal office. These Democrats eagerly look forward to trump’s 2024 presidential victory and the GOP’s return to the congressional Majority.
