The Hot Toddy: Most underrated beverage

There are a lot of variations out there (just do a google search and you'll see) but I just keep it real simple.

1 shot of Irish Whiskey
1 to 2 teaspoons of sugar
1 cup of boiling water

Damn f*ck'n tasty I tell ya!

The reason I say it's underrated is I don't know anyone but me that drinks them.

Shot of Jameson
Hot tea (just go with Tetley or something similar)
Honey (about 1.5-2 tablespoons)
Lemon juice (about 0.5-1 teaspoons)

Warms the bones.

Is the hot toddy made exclusively with Irish whisky? I couldn't see wasting a single malt scotch on it, but a Canadian whisky might make a nice variation.

Whatever whiskey you prefer. But I wouldn't recommend using any 12 year or older scotch as it wouldn't really taste any better than a 6 year old. But then again I use Bushmills, which tastes as good as any 12 year old single malt scotch anyway, it's just half the price.

One of the most well kept whiskey secrets is that 6 year old Irish Whiskey is as smooth as 12 year old Scotch. It's that third distillation that makes all the difference.
