can we talk about the history of Ireland?

i think it is a fascinating topic.

so many failed rebellions …. but in the end the Irish succeeded ….. but not fully ….

what do you think?

what has impressed you?

one of many horrible thing is the Irish famine.

Britain is very guilty here

The history of Ireland is that the British treated them worse than dogs.

So they moved to America to get away from the British.

And found work in the mines.

Owned by the British.

Who again treated them like dogs.
tragic …. and true ….

They sent all the rough lot, the Scots Irish, down to the Appalachians. Explains a lot. :4_13_65:

They were pirates and slavers who raided England for centuries. Finally the Brits got the upper hand and the Irish reaped what they sowed, same as with most peoples in human history all over the world. In the U.S. they invented organized crime and political corruption.

what about the famine?

What about it? The Brits were getting better prices for their grain on the Continent, so that's where they exported it.

No evidence of the Irish ever caring about famines in Europe and donating anything to others in need.

one could speak of a genocide!
the famine may not have been "genocide", though the irish are not considered fully human by upper class brits.

the potatoes failed, but other crops could have fed the irish, but could be sold more profitably elsewhere . "business as usual" for any capitalist.

how could they …. when they had nothing?
