During my confinement I have been catching up with old episodes of this show and it is just as good as I remembered it as a child.
As an adult it has struck me that Big John Cannon might have been the best president that America never had.
He lives by a strict moral code. He has a strong belief in justice and the law but is not afraid to confront the State when they are wrong.
He has great diplomacy skills which can be seen when he negotiates with the Apaches and is keen to see society move forward, whether it be a new stage line or a different route to market.
He fought on the right side in the war but has embraced his brother who fought on the wrong side.
He wears a gun but would rather discuss the problem.
He respects all men and would prefer to live in harmony with all of his neighbours. He treats his employees with respect and he gets it back.
All in all I think that this is the best of the TV western shows.
