The Founders on Religion

Correction yet another left-wing false narrative. This time it is the lie that the founders wanted to build a "secular nation" in which the government was "free from religion".

"And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle. It is substantially true, that virtue or morality is a necessary spring of popular government. The rule, indeed, extends with more or less force to every species of free government. Who, that is a sincere friend to it, can look with indifference upon attempts to shake the foundation of the fabric?"

— George Washington Farewell Address (September 19, 1796)

The Founders should have made this a Christian Nation tolerant of other believers and non believers. Imagine if non Christians had founded this Nation and how tolerant they would have been? Are Atheists tolerant? They shit themselves over a valedictorian saying "God".

And don't forget....the countries that were under the control of atheists...Germany, Russia, China, Cambodia...murdered close to 100 million people since 1917.....far from the medieval period when everyone was barbaric......

Atheism murders in the millions.......

On the subject of revering the beliefs, opinions, and intents of the Founders...

Should white Americans give them full reverence, but maybe 3/5ths reverence would be sufficient for black Americans?

LOL, your ignorance is very unbecoming.

Was the 3/5ths compromise not in the Constitution? Are you denying that?

Goddam that is funny.
Where in the Constitution does it say separation of church and state?

Where the Constitution establishes a Supreme Court that has the authority to interpret what the Constitution says. That's where.

The Constitution did not establish that....the Supreme Court took that authority in the ruling Marbury v. Madison ...and it needs to be brought up short on that finding....

9 unelected, politically appointed lawyers should not be the only branch to determine Constitutionality of laws....

The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus by the Supreme Being in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. ... But we may hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with all this artificial scaffolding....~ Thomas Jefferson
You cherry-pick statements equally as well mega-church pastors.

The entire letter for those who care about context and complete facts:

Our country was founded on principles of accepting all religions and not subscribing to just one. If you want to be fair and integrate religion into our government then all religions would need equal representation, otherwise separating church and state and leaving religious practice to the privacy of our citizens is the best path and I believe our founders intent

I don't think the intent of the founders on the subject of religion was that we should forever treat the founders as gods.
Of course not - because if we do then we respect the U.S. Constitution which limits power. And we can't have that, right? You facists can't accept a limitation on power.

Yes, the Constitution limits the power of religions to have power.

It doesn't do that....it says the federal government shall make no law respecting the establishment of a religion nor shall it infringe on the exercise of religion.....something gay people need to realize when ordering wedding cakes...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

There is no such thing as separation of church and state in the constitution, it's bullshit that was made up by career politicians

[*Jump to State Laws...the ones that make you bake for gays (the one for blacks is Federal) are states laws.

States' Rights
I'm sorry - when we say "church in government" to you interpret that to mean FEDERAL only? :lmao:

I'm sorry, when you say "church in government" I have no idea what you're saying. What does "church in government" mean to you? How much religion do you want to see in our government? Whose religion?

Do you support the Federal PA laws or don't you? You, a "states' rights" guy, only seem to attack and snivel about the state laws in half the states that require the baking of a cake for a gay couple and never about Federal law in all 50 that requires the baking of a cake for, say, an interracial couple.

And no - this is not about "Public Accommodation Laws". This is about ALL of it, my dear. Everything. Those were just some examples. I also mentioned corrupt maniacs like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Barack Obama. Convenient how you missed that, uh?

Yes, I was doing you a favor by ignoring the completely insane parts of your post. That's getting harder to do.

No. Public Accomadation laws violate the right to private property...Government buildings can't discriminate, but you should be able to serve who you want, and not serve who you want, if you own the business...that is why some Republicans didn't support the 64 Civil Rights act....in that one area it went too far....

“The varieties in the structure and action of the human mind, as in those of the body, are the work of our Creator, against which it cannot be a religious duty to erect the standard of uniformity. The practice of morality being necessary for the well-being of society, He has taken care to impress its precepts so indelibly on our hearts that they shall not be effaced by the subtleties of our brain. We all agree in the obligation of the moral precepts of Jesus". – Thomas Jefferson in a letter to James Fishback (September 27, 1809.)

The problem is that the Founders tried to make the Judiciary a completely independent body that was not beholden to the other two branches, in fact the Founders meant for the SC to be the WEAKEST of the three branches of Govt.

The funny thing is...they all hate Jefferson....until they want to cite his private letter about the Church and State...a private letter that was never part of any official government statement or action...then they love him...

In order for them to achieve their aims they have to control the language, to call up as down and black as white. Hence freedom FROM religion instead of freedom OF religion. Hence the SC being the most powerful branch of the Govt now.

The left loves the court because they only need to get 5 left wing assholes on it to create laws that rule the entire country......that is one reason it was supposed to be so weak, since they were appointed for life....

Yeah....but our guys try to actually follow the Constitution...where as the left wingers couldn't care less about it.....and even then....our guys are only reliable about 50% of the time, while the left wingers are 100% committed to left wing government empowerment......

Agreed, which means not forcing church on anyone or having a government-backed church.

Jefferson was a deist.

Definition of deism
  1. : a movement or system of thought advocating natural (see 1natural 8b) religion, emphasizing morality, and in the 18th century denying the interference of the Creator with the laws of the universe

Yeah....not quite...

Historian: Thomas Jefferson was pro-religion

Barton argued Jefferson did not believe in the “clockmaker god” who simply wound up the universe and didn’t intervene in human affairs. At the same time, Barton explained, Jefferson was not a follower of conventional orthodox Christian belief, especially late in his life.

Yet despite these doctrinal departures, Barton claimed “there never was a time when he was not pro-Jesus, pro-Christian or pro-religion.”

Bwahahahahaha! Another hatriot completely sold on left-wing propaganda. Thomas Jefferson did no such thing. What he did do was create what is now known as "The Jefferson Bible". He was so enthralled with Jesus and his teachings that he considered it to be (and I quote) “His system of morality was the most benevolent and sublime probably that has been ever taught, and consequently more perfect than those of any of the ancient philosophers.… [He was] the most innocent, the most benevolent, the most eloquent and sublime character that ever has been exhibited to man" [1].

In addition to his fawning over Jesus, he felt that simplifying the Bible to just those teaching would be the best way to connect with and convert Native Americans. For these two reasons, he started cutting out only the lessons of Jesus and formed what would become known as "The Jefferson Bible". Once again I quote, “The Philosophy of Jesus of Nazareth, being Extracted from the Account of His Life and Doctrines Given by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John; Being an Abridgement of the New Testament for the Use of the Indians, Unembarrassed [Uncomplicated] with Matters of Fact or Faith beyond the Level of their Comprehensions” [2].

Why is it so hard for the left to fact-check the propaganda fed to them? There is no excuse in this day and age of smartphones and the internet.

You seriously do not see the THREE links I have in that very post?!? :eusa_doh:

I even added citations. I'm beginning to think that every left-wing hatriot is a high school dropout. Their illiteracy is astounding.
