The Democrats - after their chosen candidate and the Obama administration sought the help of Russians and foreign spies and used the Counter-Intelligence information sold / given to them to affect the 2016 election - declared the threat of outside interference in 2020 is a possibility. They declared the President was not doing anything to prevent that from happening.
President Trump asked the Ukraine PM to do the US a favor by looking into how the Democrats worked with corrupt previous Ukraine officials in an attempt to affect elections and to look into the previous VP's videotaped confession of having extorted the previous Ukraine PM to ensure Ukraine would not attempt to interfere in US elections again.
The Democrats claimed...again...President Trump engaged in illegal collusion with Ukraine to affect an election
- It did not work the 1st time, so they abandoned the accusation.
'Illegal Collusion 2.0: Ukraine' failed quickly.
The Democrats switched from 'Illegal Collusion 2.0' to 'Extortion' of the new Ukraine PM.
'Extortion' failed to incite the desired level of Trump-hatred and call for Impeachment.
The Democrats switched from 'Extortion' to 'Bribery' because FOCUS GROUPS liked 'Bribery' better.
Democrats held their Democrat-Only, closed-door Inquisition, demonstrating what Socialist Democrat Justice under their rule would look like, trampling Constitutional Rights and the Rule of Law: Democrats Only, the President, his lawyer, and GOP were not permitted in the meetings.
Democrats moved their Inquisition to the center stage for the world to see. Amazingly, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi entrusted Schiff with the responsibility of building this new case against President Trump. Naming Schiff the lead is amazing in that 'painting oneself into a corner' is not something new for him:

For 2 years Schiff lied his ass off, as loudly as he could, declaring he had direct evidence of crimes committed by the President, evidence not even the Special Prosecutor or his investigators had....until it all blew up in his face and he was forced to admit he didn't have schiff.
Not to worry - 'that tragic case of shooting himself in the foot and being 'exposed as a liar' was a 'fluke' / 'anomaly'. He wouldn't do that again, Nancy thought.
So Schiff and the Democrats manufacture an Impeachment investigation based on hearsay from a whistle blower - who does not meet the legal definition of the term 'whistle blower' - filing a complaint - which was dismissed by the prosecutorial branches of the DOJ for being Hearsay - after having contacted Schiff and his staff.
As the inquisition continued, Schiff id the fact that he had contact with the faux whistle blower, defended his contact with the faux whistle blower after it was exposed, threatened to punish anyone who named the whistle blower, falsely claimed (lied) a law exists that affords the faux whistle blower anonymity and immunity., then publicly claimed he doesn't know the identity of the faux whistle blower....
NOW the GOP want to know who the whistle blower is, what law exists that affords them anonymity / immunity, they want them to testify, and they want Schiff to testify.....
