The Democrats can do better. They have to do better. They were saying the Trump proposal on TV today would not work before they heard it.
They should at not respond until they have heard the proposal. The response should have included a counter offer. Let us all know they are working toward a solution.

Democrats need to rise above his pettiness and be the adult in the room.

Why don't you know that they already knew what he was going to say?

They did know, but wait until he is finished and do not just say no, provide a counter proposal. I would ask for full DACA implementation and you have a deal. Make Trump say no or agree. Now they are the ones saying no.

They are not allowing Trump to use a shutdown to get something he wants. That's sound policy for the country and politically.

Trump had $$ for full DACA in March. He walked.

Everyone suffers from Trump derangement syndrome. He did a job on the Republicans during the primaries. Trump is the ultimate con man. He lies to get support from those who are dumb enough to believe him and then bully's and intimidates those who accurately point out his lies.
It is the classic con man strategy but there are few who are as good as he is.
He is not wise leader looking for what is best for the US, he is con man conning the American public into supporting what is best for Donald Trump.

The best part about ALL of this is that whatever ends up being the "deal" that Pelosi gives Trump....there will be no "powerful wall" built before the 2020 election.

It seems to me the dems really don’t care about the government being shut down. Trump has had invitations to the dems to meet and compromise, but the dem leadership don’t seem to be interested. Trumps statement seems to include many compromises so lets see if the dems are really interested in getting the government open or just take another vacation.
