The people who vote GOP do so because they think they are voting for certain things, to wit: lower taxes and less government. When GOP pols go to Washington and compromise consistently for higher taxes and more gov't they betray the voters who sent them.
The TP movement seeks to reclaim the GOP and make them walk the walk, not just talk the talk. That is naturally disturbing to Democrats, who have gotten cozy with a Republican Party that reliably compromises on every issue and doesnt want to make waves for fear of coming off bad on the nightly news. So they demonize those TP members and swear that disaster will befall both the GOP and the country if "those people" ever get elected.

The Dems have lots of problems. The take stances that I cannot agree with, but they are not self destructing...as the GOP seems to be doing. The party is not at a crossroads. Do they let the RW extremist continue to define the party directions, or do the adults stand up and speak.

Tell me Jim, what should happen in January? The debt ceiling is raised to 22Trillion and we go until April. Then what? With no cuts in spending, we have another raising of the debt ceiling battle in April and agree on 27T until August. That will be 32T in Nov.; 38T in Jan. etc. etc., etc. When do we have the BIG BOOM?

Some wise men will look back and say, "We should have voted in more TP members last year, made substantial cuts and maybe we could afford this orange."
