Are we seeing a turning point in history - the beginning of the end of US military domination of the world?

BBC News - US military to close 15 bases in Europe

The US will close 15 military bases across Europe, US Defence Secretary Chuck Hagel has confirmed.

The Pentagon says the move will save around $500m (£300m) a year, and comes as the US military seeks to shift its attention towards Asia.

Cash starvation is starting to take its toll, forcing closures where there was only expansion.
As BRICS takes the power of the petrodollar, and China's industry overtakes America's, will the US be forced to engage in one last, massive war with China in a final attempt to hold on to its world position?

There are too many sophisticated and Hi-tech weapons around the globe for any one nation to claim superiority. We may have a slight edge, but others aren't far behind. Also, at present, global dependency, one nation to another, would suggest that the chance of such a war would be very slim. Over the past 50 years, wars have been basically diplomatic wars, and upscale police actions. No one has used the weapons available in any conflict for the past 50 years. There are too many areas where countries are tied together economically for one nation to jump ship and try to go it alone.

Wall Street is a collection of international markets, trading, financial considerations, and currency exchange rates. Many international companies have ownership or partial ownership in American corporations. The Chinese are heavily invested in America, either through businesses or real estate holdings. The same holds true for Japan and others. Any large scale all out war would be just as devastating for the winner as it would be for the loser. In today's age of global dependency and Hi-tech weaponry, it is very unlikely that anyone would be so brave as to start an all out, no holds barred, devastating global conflict.

On the other hand, rogue groups such as terrorist organizations could encourage a serious war to break out, but they would be met with more than one nation ready to take them on. Also, it's possible that terrorists could use chemical or biological weapons, even germ warfare, to push nations to ban together in an effort to defeat them. So, could a major global war break out in the near future? In my opinion, it's very unlikely. If it did, who would win? The obvious answer is that no one would win. Economically, everyone would pay a tremendous price.

Let's tackle the argument. The assumption promoted by a self described "extremist muslim" is that the world has remained safe because of U.S. Military presence in Europe after WW2. It's a compliment to the greatest Country in the world and accurate to a degree but a bit overblown. Since "extremist muslems" live in the 6th century it's possible that they are unaware that America saved human civilization in at least two and maybe three major conflicts in the bloody 20th century.

Yes China is a threat. But you are negating the threat from the terrorist organizations around the world, many of which have no political affiliation and only a radical religious affiliation in order to gain their acceptance before they dominate you. France has approx. 160 'no go' restricted areas where immigrant populations are in charge of law enforcement and law. The nations of Europe are experiencing an upheaval of their nationality through a belief in appeasement and multiculturalism and are now beginning to tighten immigration and reduce benefits. The US under President Obama is going that way.
