Senator Max Cleland – Former member of the 9/11 Commission, resigned December 2003. U.S. Senator from Georgia 1996-2002. Currently serves on the board of directors of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Administrator of U.S. Veterans Administration 1977-1981. Awarded Silver Star and Bronze Star for U.S. Army bravery in Viet Nam. Triple amputee from war injuries.

Boston Globe Article 11/13/03: "If this decision stands [to limit 9/11 Commission access to White House documents], I, as a member of the commission, cannot look any American in the eye, especially family members of victims, and say the commission had full access. This investigation is now compromised."

“There are ample reasons to suspect that there may be some alternative to what we outlined in our version,” Kerrey said. The commission had limited time and limited resources to pursue its investigation, and its access to key documents and witnesses was fettered by the administration.

Commissioner Tim Roemer, speaking to CNN, stated that Commission members were considering a criminal probe of false statements. As quoted,

“We were extremely frustrated with the false statements we were getting,” Roemer told CNN. “We were not sure of the intent, whether it was to deceive the commission or merely part of the fumbling bureaucracy.”

The 9/11 Commission now tells us that the official version of 9/11 was based on false testimony and documents and is almost entirely untrue. The details of this massive cover-up are carefully outlined in a book by John Farmer, who was the Senior Counsel for the 9/11 Commission.

John J. Farmer, Jr., Senior Counsel, 9/11 Commission – Former Attorney General of the State of New Jersey. Former Chief Counsel to former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman. Former Commissioner of the State Commission of Investigations. Former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey.

Washington Post Article 8/2/06 - "Some staff members and commissioners of the Sept. 11 panel concluded that the Pentagon's initial story of how it reacted to the 2001 terrorist attacks may have been part of a deliberate effort to mislead the commission and the public rather than a reflection of the fog of events on that day, according to sources involved in the debate. ...

"I was shocked at how different the truth was from the way it was described," John Farmer, a former New Jersey attorney general who led the staff inquiry into events on Sept. 11, said in a recent interview. "The tapes told a radically different story from what had been told to us and the public for two years. ... This is not spin. This is not true." http://www.washingtonpost

"We, to this day, don't know why NORAD [the North American Aerospace Command] told us what they told us," said Thomas H. Kean, the former New Jersey Republican governor who led the commission. "It was just so far from the truth. ... It's one of those loose ends that never got tied." http://www.washington

Without Precedent, a book about the 9/11 Commission authored by Chairman Thomas Kean and Vice-Chairman Lee Hamilton
8/4/06: "Fog of war could explain why some people were confused on the day of 9/11, but it could not explain why all of the after-action reports, accident investigations and public testimony by FAA and NORAD officials advanced an account of 9/11 that was untrue." washingtonpost.com - nation, world, technology and Washington area news and headlines

The commission’s mandate was sweeping and it explicitly included the intelligence agencies. But the recent revelations that the C.I.A. destroyed videotaped interrogations of Qaeda operatives leads us to conclude that the agency failed to respond to our lawful requests for information about the 9/11 plot. Those who knew about those videotapes — and did not tell us about them — obstructed our investigation.

There could have been absolutely no doubt in the mind of anyone at the C.I.A. — or the White House — of the commission’s interest in any and all information related to Qaeda detainees involved in the 9/11 plot. Yet no one in the administration ever told the commission of the existence of videotapes of detainee interrogations. ...

As a legal matter, it is not up to us to examine the C.I.A.’s failure to disclose the existence of these tapes. That is for others. What we do know is that government officials decided not to inform a lawfully constituted body, created by Congress and the president, to investigate one the greatest tragedies to confront this country. We call that obstruction." http://www.nytimes.com/2008/01/02

John Loftus – Former Federal Prosecutor, Office of Special Investigations, U.S. Department of Justice under Presidents Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan. Former U.S. Army Intelligence officer. Currently author and frequent media commentator on terrorism and intelligence services.

Article The Guardian 9/6/03: "The information provided by European intelligence services prior to 9/11 was so extensive that it is no longer possible for either the CIA or FBI to assert a defence of incompetence." http://www.guardian.co.

    J. Terrence "Terry" Brunner – Former prosecutor
Crime and Racketeering Section of the U.S. Justice Department
and a key member of Attorney General Bobby Kennedy’s anti-corruption task force. Former assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois. Former Executive Director of the Better Government Association 1971 - 2000. Currently Director, Aviation Integrity Project.
Article CBS News 3/5/03: "Here we've got the most important event in America in the past 50 years, the most horrible thing that's happened to Americans, and yet we pick a bunch of people who are connected to the very people who are at the center of the question of who's at fault," says Terry Brunner, a former federal prosecutor who now runs the Aviation Integrity Project in Chicago. "It's ridiculous."

Brunner checked out the commissioners and discovered that out of 10, at least six represent the very companies they're now investigating

Kenneth M. Mead, JD – Former Inspector General of the Department of Transportation. Member of the President's Council on Integrity and Efficiency
. Prior to becoming Inspector General, he served for 22 years with the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO), Congress' investigative arm. Recipient of: the Career Achievement Award from the President's Council on Integrity and Efficiency and the Distinguished Service Award and Meritorious Service Award from the GAO. Currently Special Counsel in the law firm of Baker Botts.
New York Times article "FAA Official Scrapped Tape of 9/11 Controllers' Statements" 5/6/04:

"At least six air traffic controllers who dealt with two of the hijacked airliners on Sept. 11, 2001, made a tape recording that same day describing the events, but the tape was destroyed by a supervisor without anyone making a transcript or even listening to it, the Transportation Department said in a report today. ...

But officials at the center never told higher-ups of the tape's existence, and it was later destroyed by an FAA official described in the report as a quality-assurance manager there. That manager crushed the cassette in his hand, shredded the tape and dropped the pieces into different trash cans around the building, according to a report made public today by the inspector general of the Transportation Department. ...

“There are ample reasons to suspect that there may be some alternative to what we outlined in our version"

Damn, sure proof that the current analysis is wrong.

proof...no I believe he said...ample reason to suspect..proof requires a real investigation with subpoena powers,,,something that has yet to happen...shouldnt the concern be that the commission proved the current analysis correct ?...which according to them they have not done ??

Ponder this: Try to think of any concept/theory/analysis/etc. that does not have an (or several) alternatives.

ponder this.... the crime of murder and hijacking was committed and the body given the task
of determining the perpetrators ,responsible party's and any failures of government
says its findings are suspect and they feel they intentionally mislead...this is a criminal case and has no inherent reason to be relegated to theory and concepts

you know, it's always bugged me that they spent 70 million dollars investigating a failed land deal/blue dress, but only 7 million investigating 9/11...

however, thinking that there was some type of demolition in downtown manhattan that no one in the world knew about and that they're still able to keep "secret" is just.... well, silliness....

the 9.11 commission seems like it didn't go far enough because it didn't. but not because Tom Kean, et al., were conspiring to hide an intentional act. They came to an agreement, in advance, that they wouldn't lay blame on either party or any president for dropping the ball. THAT is why there are holes and inconsistencies... THAT is the cover the committee gave them....

George Bush didn't allow anyone to intentionally blow up the towers.

did they take advantage of the situation to foster their agenda?

    heck yeah.
