The Middle Class is an axiomatic threat to the Ideological Left.

By definition, the MC is economically independent. Meaning that the MC does not need government for its day to day survival.

Representing the largest potential constituency it is only natural for the Ideological Left to do whatever it can in the lead up to their obtaining sufficient power to no longer need any constituency, to 'squeeze the middle class'.

There is absolutely no reason for advocates of independence, theoretically, the advocacy of the GOP, to do so. As doing so would squeeze the vast majority of their constituency, harming them immediately, if not instantly.

You're correct that the 'Greatest Depression' was/is the result of generations of foolishness, which came from the scammers and political gamers in both parties.

With that said, not a bit of it was the result of American principle. The policies that stripped mortgage lending of sound actuarial principles, was solely the work of the Ideological Left.

Beginning in the Carter years, doubling down in the Clinton decade and coming to a boil during the Bush decade.

In every sense, the endless list of policies sought to 'find an easier way' and as always, that notion leads straight to disaster.

The saving debate is key to understanding obamas strategy of saying saying one thing and doing another. The idea of punishing the capitalist idea of working hard and saving your money is necessary to get every one more dependent on govt. Obama never saved a penny. By keeping interest rates at O and govt bonds at 3 per cent the big money people just clicked the mouse and then head for the links. No money filters down to small banks which are disappearing rapidly. Seniors who thought they did everything right to plan for their retirement get no return on their savings and become angry at their economic situation, an anger which Obama skillfully milks, all the while getting huge donations from fat cats for making them so rich. Obama tells the public it is so much better to depend on the govt check every month instead of letting the capitalist system rip you off. So Obama with interest rate policies has destroyed the middle class, is crushing them with med ins payments, is making going to college a condition of servitude, and has taxed middle income people heavier than at any time in history and yet is portrayed as a champion of the working man, and ya don't think the country is upside down?
