Because DC is so corrupted by money they just buy elections. Once in, it is extremely rare for any Congresscritter to ever lose another election.

Job approval of Congress: 17%
Reelection rate of Congress: 96%

If that doesn’t make you understand that we need term limits now, then you’re the reason they have instructions on shampoo bottles.

Fully agree, but it has to come from Congress.
There lies the rub....how many in Congress are will to vote for firing themselves?
And there is the problem... we the people have lost control over our government.... they pitch us against each other and so far its working for them but that is about to backfire big time on them...

Term limits will solve jack shit... Term limits just give more power to the party machines...

Multi-seat districts with preference voting... That will bring the incumbency rate down naturally and for better reasons.. It would create more parties and better representation... US method of democracy is antiquated..

How?

Please tell us. We need encouragement... although the train wreck in the White House does encourage :)

Much more than that
Need to repeal the 17th amendment

How would that work?

Wouldn't still be brought up through legislation?
on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof

That was the rub I was talking about. They won't vote for firing themselves, too lucrative of a racket.

This nation was founded by people who could have created a government to keep them and their heirs in power forever.

Instead they chose to document rights for citizens and armed them so if felt the need to repeat 1776 it could be done.

I long to see people of honor again serving in our Federal offices.
