That article is misleading.

Every year the filthy ass teacher's union do their greedy commie shit in Tallahassee.

The Communists put in for a day off, usually months in advance.

The school districts know that and they plan for substitutes.

The problem came in Polk County because the school administration did not plan appropriately and were faced with not having enough substitutes. That resulted in the school district not granting the leave and the ensuing shitstorm including the teachers being told what would happen if they took off anyhow.

HOWEVER, the discussion is moot now because last night the administrators announced they had come up with enough subs and administrators to cover it.

Instead of screwing around like this every year they should just have the day as a Teacher's workday without the students and then if the teachers want to take a personal day and go to their stupid commie rally then it wouldn't effect the classroom.

A couple years ago the teachers went on strike here. They were threatened with losing their jobs but the cool thing was the politicians were surprised when they come to find out the people were behind the teacher. Huge rallies at the Capital.

If they all ask for the same day off where the school cannot function,
it depends on the school policy. If principals have the option of rejecting time off requests
if there aren't enough staff to cover the classes, they have the right to enforce school policy.

So if teachers take off without it being approved,
of course, that's grounds for dismissal.

So it depends on the school's policy. The schools or principals may indeed
have the right to refuse requests, so if teachers take off anyway, the policies may specify termination.
