Syrian Army is on a Roll in Northeastern Latakia

Russian Air Force Delivers a Powerful Blow to Al-Nusra as the Syrian Army Progresses in Salma

"It has been a rough morning for the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” and their allies from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, as the Syrian Arab Army’s rapid advance across the country has left them on the defensive for the first time since January of this year.

Further adding to their plight in northern Syria, Jabhat Al-Nusra and their allies are under attack by the Russian Air Force’s powerful airstrikes; this aerial campaign against them has given them little room to breathe, as they struggle to maintain control over several areas around the country.

On Saturday morning, the Russian Air Force woke-up the sleeping Islamist rebels from Jabhat Al-Nusra at the strategic city of Salma in Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains), striking their positions with remarkable precision from their MI-24 Hind Helicopter Gunships in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside.

Following the Russian Air Force’s airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – continued their advance inside the rebel stronghold of Salma, killing over 15 enemy combatants before progressing deeper into the southern district.

Currently, the Islamist rebels are in a bad position at Salma after their multiple failed attacks on Kafr Dulbeh and Doreen earlier in the week; this failure has furthered the Syrian Army’s resolve to capture this integral city in northeastern Latakia."

Islamist Rebels Attempt to Recapture Jubb Al-Ahmar Amid the Syrian Army’s Offensive in Salma

"The Islamist rebels from the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra”, Harakat Al-Sham, and the Free Syrian Army’s “Suqour Al-Ghaab” launched a counter-attack at the strategic town of Jubb Al-Ahmar in the Prophet Jonah (Jabal Nabi Younis) of northeastern Latakia, resulting in a series of intense firefights between the aforementioned Islamist groups and the civilian-led “National Defense Forces” (NDF) this morning.

Leading the attack at Jubb Al-Ahmar, Harkaat Ahrar Al-Sham attempted to bypass the National Defense Forces’ frontline positions at this imperative town; however, the Russian Air Force put an end to this plan after they struck the Islamist rebels with a number of airstrikes on Saturday morning in northeast Latakia.

Unfortunately for the Islamist rebels in northeastern Latakia, the Syrian Armed Forces were able to recover the entire town after a series of firefights and airstrikes from the Russian Air Force; this resulted in the death of over 20 enemy combatants from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham, Jabhat Al-Nusra, and Liwaa Suqour Al-Ghaab,

Elsewhere, the Syrian Armed Forces continued their advance inside the integral city of Salma, capturing more building blocks from the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra at the southern district.

As the firefights continue between the Syrian Armed Forces and the Islamist rebels of Jabhat Al-Nusra, both parties will strive to gain the upper-hand in Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains)."

Russian Air Force Destroys the FSA Command in Latakia as the Syrian Army Storms Salma

"On Monday night, the Russian Air Force surprised the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigades” with a multitude of airstrikes over their positions inside Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains), killing three of their highest ranking officers during an intense night raid in this mountainous area of the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside.

Among the dead commanders from the Free Syrian Army’s 1st Coastal Brigades was their Chief of Staff, Captain Bassel Zimmo – a defector from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in 2011.

Captain Zimmo was reportedly attending a private meeting with the Free Syrian Army’s 1st Coastal Brigades Central Command before the Russian Air Force delivered a powerful assault in the Kurdish Mountains of the Latakia Governorate.

Following the Russian Airstrikes in the Kurdish Mountains, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces – in coordination with the National Defense Forces (NDF), the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – carried out a powerful assault inside the city of Tartiyah, striking the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” at the Kafr Dulbeh-Tartiyah axis.

This assault by the Syrian Armed Forces resulted in the death of over 30 enemy combatants from Jabhat Al-Nusra, including a number of foreigners from Chechnya, Dagestan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Turkey, and Lebanon.

According to a military source in Slunfeh, the Syrian Armed Forces and Islamist rebels are currently engaged in a violent firefight inside both Tartiyah and Salma – both sides have reportedly suffered heavy casualties as a result of these night battles."

Syrian Army Special Forces Sweep Through the Hills Surrounding the Strategic City of Salma

"The Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces have surprised the Islamist rebels of the Free Syrian Army’s “1st Coastal Brigades” and the Syrian Al-Qaeda group “Jabhat Al-Nusra” with their recent advances in Jabal Al-Akrad (Kurdish Mountains) after spending only two weeks on the offensive at this front in the Latakia Governorate’s northeastern countryside.

On Saturday morning, the SAA’s Special Forces – in coordination with the Syrian Social Nationalist Party (SSNP), the National Defense Forces (NDF), and Muqawama Souri (Syrian Resistance) – continued their operations in Jabal Al-Akrad, targeting Jabhat Al-Nusra’s defensive positions at the northern axis of Kataf Al-Ghaddar; this aforementioned site was recently captured by the Syrian Armed Forces earlier this week.

Considered one of the most important mountaintops in Jabal Al-Akrad, the Syrian Arab Army and the National Defense Forces spent almost two years trying to capture this site from the Islamist rebels; however, they were relatively unsuccessful up until recently, when they finally broke-through Jabhat Al-Nusra’s frontlines.

In addition to the capture of Kataf Al-Ghaddar, the Syrian Arab Army’s Special Forces have advanced inside the strategic city of Salma, capturing several building blocks and hilltops from the Islamist rebels, while also minimizing their losses at this volatile front.

The city of Salma has become on the Russian Air Force’s primary targets due to its proximity to the rebel stronghold of Jisr Al-Shughour and its elevation that allows for the Islamist rebels to overlook the vast mountain area of northeast Latakia."
