I believe that what Ann Coulter is inaptly trying to get across, is that the "United States of America" did not exist prior to her ancestors and other Europeans arrival and that those former Europeans living here "at the time the nation was formally created in 1776", were thus native inhabitants of the newly formed country. Furthermore, the "Native-Americans (Lakhota, Apache, Suquamish, Iriquois, et cetera) were themselves originally immigrants from Asia, having crossed over from the Bering Strait when it was land-locked, but they had not founded a cohesive nation, only scattered tribes over time.

Whether they deserved to be killed or not is up to you. The fact is nothing was going to save these people. If it were not for the reservation system there would not be one living today. They would all have been absorbed into the ocean of people covering this land. Their ways would be gone, the culture would be gone. All but the faintest memory would be gone.
