Freedom High student behind bars for unlawfully filming classmates

I've looked up multiple versions of this story, and it omits the genders of the students "he" filmed. Because they say "he" upskirted students in the bathroom/lockerroom, I'm guessing he was upskirting girls since boys don't wear skirts unless this is some scottish school where the boys wear kilts? So what was he doing in the girl's locker room/bathroom?

Dear novasteve it seems abuse of tiny technology, mixed with criminal mischief and misconduct, is the culprit here. The small camera device was used in various places not just dressing rooms.

This is a bigger problem than just restroom gender policy conflicts .

This has to do with respect for laws, privacy, persons and principles in general.

The elephant in the room when it comes to policy enforcement is CRIMINAL intent and illness before it manifests as abuse bullying crime violence or other violations of rights freedoms privacy and policies (ie violations of persons principles property or process)

We need mass education and agreement by citizens to follow standard civil laws, in order to identify and screen out those who are truly sick and unable to comply with authority without counseling or outright supervision or detention in extreme cases of imposing danger.

How can we screen out and uphold standards of democratic principles and due process, if even law abiding citizens aren't taught how to respect each other?

Like the environment in a school, if we establish respect in the classroom first and foremost, then we can see who is causing problems and AGREE on a process to address and correct the problem at the source so it doesn't disrupt the whole class or entire school.

What we have now is mass chaos because we dont agree on the rules.
Let's start there. If we proceed by orderly agreement we can best address and resolve all conflicts. But not by accusing and pointing fingers in all directions . take each problem one by one and contain and solve it.

Again the root issue behind all these cases is criminal illness abuse intent and or conduct . how do we address this instead of letting it run amok, without any check, until a violation occurs and ppl yell after the fact.

Is there a more effective way to educate train and screen ppl in advance similar to preventative health care . why jam our ER with issues that can be prevented by earlier procedures , and the same with filling courts and prisons with violations that could be prevented by earlier intervention.

Why can't schools be used to educate and enforce laws instead of fighting to defend and impose political Blame and agenda. What if we could actually AGREE on civil laws standards and process to teach ALL residents per school district , not just students but parents neighbors public officials workers businesses and all people and entities operating in that district.

If all people agree to the principles and process to follow, similar to establishing rules of the classroom on day one, couldn't we do better to enforce laws together and catch the people with behaviorial issues who need help before they break any laws or violate any rights or privacy of others?

novasteve I am guessing you mean to post this in light of conflicts over restroom policies. But the same issue of identifying criminal intent is also "mucking up" our policies on gun registration licensing and screening of mental health issues . why not address the elephant in the room in ALL these issues. Isn't the issue stopping the abuse and violations of people with criminal intent or illness and not impose on law abiding citizens who can't he deprived of liberty without due process. Isn't that the key issue in common that is mucking up these policies?

It's very valid question. How did he get the camera into the girls' locker room? Was he allowed it? Did he sneak it in? If he was allowed in then these insane policies are to blame just as much as he is. Because they enabled him to do it.

Curious, if he did sneak in, what if he started identifying as a girl tomorrow? Will liberals insist he be allowed in the girls locker room? If not, why not? How's it any different than if he's gay and he was filming boys? That's still a possibility, since they omitted the genders of the victims here.

How about calling Andi by Andi.
If Andi doesn't want to be called he or she, what about people who don't want to call someone they. Shouldnt solutions to what to calk people be mutually decided and agreed on so the respect is equal and NOBODY feels imposed on by the other persons culture.

What's wrong with saying
Andi
Andi's
You
Your
Who
Whose

And leave out he she it they their etc if people dont agree on those.

People have always been sneaking in cameras in dressing rooms and restrooms. It has happened before anyone brought up bathroom policy and gender, and will continue to occur after, if we continue to do nothing to screen for or crack down on criminal behavior.

Just like gun laws aren't going to stop criminals dealing with guns on the black market.

Why not authorize schools and police in each district to meet with civic and homeowners associations , even the party precincts and city council and county sheriffs. Come up with a standard training course for all residents in law enforcement and procedures. Agree to follow and comply, or else agree to pay fines per abuse or violation that will compensate taxpayers in that district for costs that crime prosecution incarceration or legal actions and expenses impose on the public.

Either agree to pay the full costs, don't commit and crimes abuses or violations, or move to a different district . note: this isn't just targeting any one group such as immigrants or other minorities but is holding all residents equally responsible legally and financially for following laws or paying costs of infractions back to taxpayers . why not educate citizens on the costs and agree to save and invest those tax dollars into health care and education instead of funding prisons and other costs or private profits off criminal behavior at taxpayer expense

would that work to crack down on crime? Would it save tax dollars and redirect resources to pay for education and health services so taxpayers aren't charged more and more for these costs, when it could come out of state resources already spent on crime and mental instititions wasting tax dollars on failed systems after the fact instead of focusing on effective prevention that can break the cycle of crime abuse addiction and incarceration .

Why not invest in solutions on the side of prevention , instead of going bankrupt policing and prosecuting problems after the fact. Can't this be turned around?

Why not just beat the shit out of them if they get caught?

I think parents might still have the right to discipline their own kids in this manner.

But I recently spoke with a coworker who severely punished her own son for something at school that turned out to be false. The staff member was eventually reprimanded for trumping up a false grade that the mother got corrected, but the damage had already been done by punishing the student for something he didn't do wrong .

So miketx this illustrates the importance of why our Constitutional laws defend and define due process of law BEFORE issuing punishment. Power is too easily abused to accuse and penalize others without proof and conviction.

We need to teach respect for laws, not bypassing them. That's why there's no respect for people or authority, if everyone feels they can act on their own judgment without check. People and power get abused that way, even if the intent is well meaning. We still need to follow the civil laws, and not take justice in out own hands at the risk or expense of others.

Since what the student is guilty of involves other kids, I don't believe that the parents' punishment is sufficient enough. To me, they should be arrested and given the maximum sentence.

God bless you always!!!
