We really have to put a stop to this corruption, people.

This country is designed to be ruled by the People, not corporations seeking to increase their profits at the expense of the People.

This means Loddy, Doddy and every-fucking-body.

STOP the corporate corruption in politics!

STOP $550 million from being used to buy Congressmen
Koch political network to spend $300M to $400M over 2 years

STOP the $100 million Soros used to buy Congressmen.
George Soros, Democratic Donors Contribute Millions to Super PACs

The Constitution must be amended to exempt for-profit corporations from being treated as people in our political process. If for-profit corporations cannot vote, then they should not be allowed to contribute either.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Sorry, can't agree.

The First Amendment does not state that for-profit corporations are persons under the laws covering our political process.

Do you think that they should be allowed to vote as corporations too?

Individuals can petition the government and do that as a group, but that does not include the right to make political contributions.

I do not think limiting pacs on taking over elections should be only for profit corporations. I had a dear friend years ago that told me he supported 'right to work' because the teachers union was using funds to push agendas he disagreed with. I told him that he would be sorry when 'right to work' was voted in. A year later he asked 'how did you know that?'. Any org. that gains too much power in the election process is a threat to liberty as humans are corruptible. Individual rights are smashed with claims of whatever the agenda is that may be saying 'it is good for the a majority' even if that majority cannot see the long term ramifications of what they support at any given time. "Herd immunity" via unnecessary, unwanted and unwarranted vaccines or the chemical brain castration of a free thought process with fluoridated water are good examples of that type of thought process that allows a few to make decisions for the whole.

If such was truly the case then churches should be able to steer elections too!

Apparently it does.

The complaint should be with teachers unions. They contribute to the DNC. Teachers have their wages garnished to pay union dues -- whether they join the union or not -- and taxpayers pay the teachers. The transitivity means that taxpayers are forced to fund the DNC.

A growing number of Americans and researchers suggest that many corporations in the U.S. contribute to both Democrats and Republicans, so that no matter who wins the election, corporations can still exert their influence in Washington. But, does this line of thought have any merit? As they say, let’s simply “follow the money”.

The following firms are ranked in order of their total contributions for 2008. But, the chart below illustrates their total contributions over the last 20 years. Every firm on this list is defined as “on the fence”, meaning they have leaned neither Republican, nor Democrat and have largely donated to both parties. This information was compiled from OpenSecrets.

(The asterisk [*] denotes companies who have recently made equal contributions, despite their 20 year history of a party preference. Contact the Federal Election Committee or opensecret.org for more information.)

What is Dark Money?
Dark Money refers to political spending meant to influence the decision of a voter, where the donor is not disclosed and the source of the money is unknown. Depending upon the circumstances, Dark Money can refer to funds spent by a political nonprofit or a super PAC. Here’s how:

  • Political nonprofits are under no legal obligation to disclose their donors. When they choose not to, they are considered Dark Money groups.
  • Super PACs can also be considered Dark Money groups in certain situations. While these organizations are legally required to disclose their donors, they can accept unlimited contributions from political non-profits and “shell” corporations who may not have disclosed their donors, in these cases they are considered Dark Money groups.
Dark Money groups account for staggering gaps in understanding exactly how each funding dollar is being spent during political elections. These gaps are becoming wider with every election cycle. Political organizations working to influence the 2016 elections ........................

Why?

Corporate influence needs to be halted in its tracks. It hurts this country. Stake my life on it.

Government influences corporations, why not allow them to respond in kind?
They do a lot more than respond in kind. Let the individuals that own stock in those companies each represent themselves if they so desire.

Let the company defend itself.
They have gone too far they are being bullies at this point to let them continue on as it has been. When they cannot defend themselves they simply buy off whoever needs to be bought....ie buying judges etc.....

Because the People are soveriegn, not corporations and public donations to political events was the primary means of the People keeping control of the government.

Corporations are co-opting control from the People with their massive donations to PACs and so this needs to stop.

I know that you realize this, Toddster, so again, I am done discussing yet another topic with you.
