Thought provoking article by Steyn. It will be interesting down the road to see if the different provinces attempt to break away and form their own countries as soon as opportunities present themselves. However, having observed and learned from what happened in the old Soviet Union not so long ago, I am sure the Communist Chinese government will never let such opportunities arise. Unfortunately, the Red Chinese have the military manpower and materiel to keep any revolts from succeeding.

As an aside to Steyn's article, why Americans keep propping up such a country financially with their purchasing power is beyond me. Just about everything offered for sale in America is manufactured in China. It's like we can't do anything for ourselves. I cannot remember a time in my life when about the only buying option I have available to me is something made in China.
