You cannot debate with people who are fundamentally dishonest. You cannot compromise with people who are not dealing in good faith.You cant engage in a war of words where words mean nothing. And you cant use the Constitution to appeal to people who have no respect for the rule of law.

The great enemy of clear language is insincerity. When there is a gap between one's real and one's declared aims, one turns as it were instinctively to long words and exhausted idioms, like a cuttlefish spurting out ink.
