Socialist medicine has weekends off. Better get sick monday-friday, or you might die.

This is the future of medicine in the U.S.....the vaunted NHS takes weekends off....

Man Dies Because UK Health System Doesn't Do Surgery on the Weekend

According to Rogers’ son, Callum Rogers, 26, his father could still have been transferred to a specialist in England if it had been a weekday.

“My dad was denied the chance of survival as Wales does not have access to this treatment and doesn’t have any units,” he said. “We were also told [by a stroke consultant] that if he fell ill on a weekday they would have had a chance to transfer him to a specialist unit in England. Because this was a Sunday it was impossible.”

With rates of reimbursement set by the government under a national health plan why wouldn't they take the weekend off? There's no incentive to work a minute long than they have too.

The person quoted must be intelectually impaired. The NHS doesn't to elective or scheduled surgery at the weekend, but it does do emergency surgery at weekends. However a specialist can't work 24/7, even they have to have a day off from time to time.

From the article: "The capacity depends on the availability of specialist staff able to carry out the procedure which has varied over time,” she said. “To the extent that specialist staff are available, this is a seven day a week service.”

Didn´t know they have Socialism.

It's a complaint that we have access to medical care which is free at the point of use, unlike America were the poor can simply die if they can't afford the fees for a doctors visit.

Still, this isn´t Socialism. From my German view you guys over there even have ice cold Anglo-Saxon capitalism.
We have a similar problem here with hospital doctors working until they fall apart. This is merely a funding problem.

Intellectually impaired, no. However, you may have a reading comprehension problem. My comment was as to why a doctor wouldn't work any more than necessary because of the NHS set fees (likely lower than physicians make in the US).

But hey, thanks for playing.

I'm not aware you're the person quoted in the article... Is that you quoted in the article?
