He was not correct, just because he managed to uncover some communists does not mean that they were actual security risks or that his methods were honorable. He had no respect for due process or the first amendment right of free association, he turned the real fight against soviet infiltration into a partisan circus where an accusation was as good as a conviction. He dealt in fear rather than facts and managed to ruin many innocent lives for his own aggrandizement.

All it means is that something was hunting down and exterminating the residents of the snowbound areas in the northern latitudes. If you had dark skin or dark hair or any other coloration that stood out against the snow, your genetic information was history. Or a hearty stew for someone. Notice that the same processes of natural selection that worked at selecting the blond hair and light skin color in the nordic peoples did not affect the inuit at all. McCarthy WAS Blacklisted by History. A book of the same name gives 600+ pages (6 years of research) of the low down on how far the soviet espionage went. Read it.
