I actually am a fan of what the Gates Foundation has done to try and turn around failing school systems in urban areas. Very creative, well-funded, and a high level of accountability for the recipients.

The Gates Foundation serves as a model of what civic-minded rich folks can accomplish once they set their minds to making a difference in the world...
