Funny, when the media talks about these "Confederate" monuments, they always use the term "Civil War Era".

It give the impression of great age. I bet most of these right wingers think they date all the way back to the Civil War.

Remember, the Civil War was about treason to the United States. It was an attack on the country itself. The government never would have allowed statutes to be erected celebrating racism and the attempted destruction of the United States.

These statutes were put in place by the children of those traitors during the next century. By then, they had gained sufficient political power they could erect monuments to traitors without fear of government reprisal. Because they became the government. So it's not like these statues have a "rich history". They are merely a poke in the eye to the patriots who kept the country together.

Say, are the Japanese allowed to have memorials for their fallen dead during WWII? You know, because they lost and any monument in Japan would be an "insult" to the Americans that won the war.

Fallen dead and traitorous leaders. Hmmm, exactly the same or vastly different?

Your comparison needs work....."Say, are the Japanese allowed to have memorials to Tojo and the other generals of WWII...like those who ran the Rape of Nanking and the Bataan Death March?
