This guy took on 7 Mig-15's piloted by Soviets heading towards his aircraft carrier single handily, shooting 4 of them down. 263 bullet holes in his plane when he landed.

Because the Soviets were involved he was sworn to secrecy for 50 years and the story was buried.

There is an effort to get him the MOH before he goes.

Minn. town wants nation to remember 'forgotten hero' who shot...

I think he deserves the CMH. Any pilot that is capable of almost making Ace in a 35 min. dogfight deserves it.

5 confirmed kills makes a pilot an Ace. He got 4 in one dogfight.

The guy sounds like a genuine American badass. It's a shame the Korean War got swept under the rug like it did.

Thanks for sharing the story.

Here is a link to other fighter pilots who received the Medal of Honor.

Interesting to read what earned MOH's.

Only four posts about the Korean War? It looks like the MSM did it's job and protected a democrat administration from criticism by declaring Korea to be the "forgotten war". Imagine if they declared Vietnam to be "forgotten". Harry Truman appointed his former WW1 Army commander to be the commander of front line Troops in Korea but timid Harry was the nerd who had a love/hate affair and both admired and feared MacArthur. MacArthur was in his 70's by Korea and never spent a single night away from his palace in Japan. He depended on accused racist sycophant former WW2 general Ned Almond to give him crucial intelligence reports but Almond only gave Mac junk information and nobody in Truman's administration seemed to notice. If it wasn't for Marine Generals like O.P. Smith and Chesty Puller it would have been a worse debacle.than the embarrassing truce that Truman envoys couldn't seem to handle

LOL- yep the 'main stream media' is to blame for USMB not posting more than 4 posts in this thread about an event in the Korean War.

Yep- Americans- never wanting to remember the Korean War.......
