And what would occasion the SPLC to investigate the employee, or call the employer, for that matter. Who at the SPLC called the employer, who at the employee’s job site did the SPLC speak to.

Of course she should. Maxine Waters occupies a position of immense power and responsibility over the populace, and she's inferred that she harbours animosity of a racial nature towards white people - or more specifically, the Tea Party. Technically speaking, it isn't racism, but you can be sure that if a white member of congress told members of the Black Panther movement to go to hell, they'd be lynched on a racism charge by press outlets that sympathise with the Panthers. Not to mention political entities that wanted to curry favour with the aggrieved. In short, a double standard seems to prevail over controversy of a racial nature in favour of blacks.
