Senate gone, Obama seats nominees

Jealous of the left using the right's tricks?
You are getting Bolton Dammit!

Remind me again what Obama said during his campaign about open, transparent government. And something about cleaning up DC?

For the record, lots of us disapproved of it from the GOP. We disapprove of it from the Dems.

How much longer do we have to wait before fools realize that the 'mommy, he did it too' defense is no longer an acceptable justification for crapping on "We, the People"?

They were held up for no damn reason. If they were held up for a legitimate reason, you would have a point.

Hypocritical liars is what you and your party have become. UnAmerican crap.

Oh, he's transparent alright - a true totalitarian thug to the core.

like the guy before him?

I thought the Obama campaign's mantra was "I'm not Bush" and that a vote for Mccain was a vote for Bush lll .Following this logic, he is doing just like Bush. Not a great argument to stand by.

Oh, but there are are other major differences, as I'm sure you've already seen. Besides when you got a minority acting like Senate Repubs are, I say fuck 'em.

Hmmm ... Obama carrying on another Bush policy ... what a shock ... not.

I'm sure the OP was all kinds of up in arms about this back when Bush did it

Not the point at all. Obama claimed he was different and the left had a screaming fit when Bush did it and are now all happy Obama did it. The word for that is Hypocrisy.

Bush would never do this! Oh wait...well except for the over 100 times he did it.

Obama does it, he is hitler
Bush does it, he is a patriot.

Clinton did it 140 times as well. The point is Obama claimed he was different. And the left all whined and claimed it was WRONG to use the power granted by the Constitution. Now suddenly it is right to use it. The word you are missing is Hypocrite.

Of course Obama is not a asshole racist or nothing, because at least 2 of the 15 were white. Where is the EEOC? Affirmative action police? Anyone - Bueller, Bueller?

Let's see: The Democrats blocked 5 of Bush's nominees in the 8 years of his Presidency.

The Republicans have blocked 77 of Obamas appointments in a year and a half.

It's clear (and no secret whatsoever) that the Republicans have adopted a policy of absolute obstruction in every way they possibly can. It has NOTHING to do with Obama's appointees, only with the republicans political strategy.

It is also very clear that the Republicans are NOT fulfilling their oaths of office: The are not executing the duties of their office, but are instead abusing the powers of their office to execute their obstructionist polical policy.

It appears it only takes a handful of Republicans to stop a majority of Democrats. It has NOTHING to do with Obama's appointees? Richard, you need to really slow down and take a good hard look at these socialists and union thugs.

First of all, there are absolutely nothing that qualifies Obama appointees as thugs. Who is being betaen, extorted, murdered or anything else that would qualify as thug tactics?

Secondly, no one is promoting socialism. You, like most conservatives, apparently do not know what the term means. Government regulation and taxation, does not equal socialism. If you believe that Obama is a socialist, then you are just plain ignorant.

Implementing laws and policies that you don't like doesn't make them socialist. Nothing has been socialized by the Obama administration, nor have they promoted any laws, regulations or policies that promote the socialization of anything.

Quit being a fool!

The Republicans may have slowed down, but obviously not stopped the Democrats - primarily because the Democrats were trying to work with the Republicans in a bipartisan way, but now that the Democrats have finally wised up and are rolling over the Republicans. Which is exactly what the Republicans deserve.

Yea the Democrats really are a disgrace at this point. These people couldn't stop whining about Recess Appointments when the other side was in power. Now they fully support Recess Appointments. This kind of dishonesty & hypocrisy pretty much sums up the Democrats' reign. The Democrats have become everything they whined about the Republicans being and worse. From reauthorizing the Patriot Act and Raising the Debt Limit to this. The worst thing is that they don't even seem to feel any shame at all for their stunning dishonesty. Time for them to get the boot. Make 2010 count people.

We will. As the Teabaggers selfdestruct, and the Republican Party descends into the morass of simply obstructing without anything at all constructive to say, we will make November, 2010 count as we made November, 2008 count.

I guess we'll see. The Democrats really have shown stunning dishonesty & hypocrisy all throughout their reign. Now they're all cheerleading for Recess Appointments. These same people whined 24/7 about how Evil that was when the other side had power. They really are a disgrace at this point.

What is NOT transparent with this move of his? You know about it, don't you?

On Obama doing this....I hate it...I hated it when President Bush did it, and I hate it now....

not because it is not transparent, but because it should go through the normal means of advise and consent, and the recess appointments that the constitution allows for should be used only in a case of emergency....which I believe was the intent of the founding fathers when they wrote the president's power to install people during congressional recess.

What goes around comes around in politics....that is for certain! you would think each side would know this?

I can't think of a single thing the Democrats have done differently than the Republicans did except pass a massive Health Care debacle. They have done all the things they used to call the other Party "Evil" for doing. Right down the line they have done all the same things. Recess Appointments are just another example of their sad hypocrisy. They gotta go.

Oh, I think they're aware of this...

Years ago, after Republicans filibustered a Carter nominee to the NLRB, the two parties made a deal: the board would have three appointees from the president's party and two from the other party. So after he took office Obama nominated two Democrats and one Republican to fill the NLRB's three vacant seats and got support from a couple of Republicans on the HELP committee for the entire slate. But when it got to the Senate floor John McCain put a hold on Becker, and his nomination — along with the others — died.

Fast forward to today and Obama finally decides to fill the board using recess appointments. But what does he do? He only appoints the two Democrats. This is not what you do if you're trying to make nice. It's what you do if you're playing hardball and you want to send a pointed message to the GOP caucus. You won't act on my nominees? Fine. I'll appoint my guys and then leave it up to you to round up 50 votes in the Senate for yours. Have fun.

They gotta go so we can have the other guys who you admit were doing the same things back in power?

The Democrats should be punished. That would be justice. I think many feel this way about them at this point. They have done all the same things they used to whine about when the other side was in power. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Well, when they were in the minority, the Dems didn't do near the amount of obstruction as the current minority has. The GOP oughtta be ashamed of themselves.

Not that I'm expecting either side to show any shame, mind you.

Interesting....one would suspect that since the Democrats didn't obstruct...that they were INCLUDED IN EVERY PIECE OF LEGISLATION THAT WAS PASSED IN CONGRESS when they were in the minority....How about that FUCKING NOVEL IDEA!!!!!

When did I say they didn't obstruct? I just said this current minority has done it a lot more and for a lot of piddly-shit reasons.

Oh, and there are Republican ammendments to the HC bill. It's not the Dems' fault the GOP won't achknowledge this because it undercuts their tyranny argument.
