Senate gone, Obama seats nominees

Man,Pelosi & Reid used to have their mugs plastered all over CNN,NBC and the NY Times, whining about how "Evil" Recess Appointments were when the other side was in power. They couldn't get enough air-time screeching about that stuff. Where are they today on their Hopey Changey's Recess Appointments? Not a peep out of them today. What a scam.

Let's see: The Democrats blocked 5 of Bush's nominees in the 8 years of his Presidency.

The Republicans have blocked 77 of Obamas appointments in a year and a half.

It's clear (and no secret whatsoever) that the Republicans have adopted a policy of absolute obstruction in every way they possibly can. It has NOTHING to do with Obama's appointees, only with the republicans political strategy.

It is also very clear that the Republicans are NOT fulfilling their oaths of office: The are not executing the duties of their office, but are instead abusing the powers of their office to execute their obstructionist polical policy.
You got the wrong number for the blocks on Bush nominees. Read up on it.

The Republicans are blocking all they can against the march of Marxism into what has been a democratic republic for over 200 years. Obama is showing that he will cram his Marxism into being as our operating system if left unchecked.

I do hope Obama fails in his attempt to change our government. Kudos to the Republicans that stand in his way.

All you Marxist worshipers just remember, when the health care control bill is implemented and the IRS controls you completely...I told you so!

You're obviously smart enough to know this is how poilitcs works and has for a long time.

Mitch McConnell in 2005:

Senator McConnell, isn't a recess appointment of Bolton -- and as we've pointed out, it's been done by presidents of both sides -- but isn't it going make the atmosphere in the Senate even more poisonous?

MCCONNELL: No, I don't think so.

I mean, typically senators who are not of the party of the president don't like recess appointments. I think Chris and I would both stipulate that. But, look, Bolton's been sort of twisting in the wind since March.

McCain on the same subject:

"I would support it. It's the president's prerogative."

Not to mention Sen. McCain also successfully lobbied GW to have Ellen Weintraub recess-appointed back in '02.

Well, at least you're acknowledging the hypocrisy of the GOP in this.

Nobody whined more about Recess Appointments then Pelosi & Reid did when the other side was doing it. They were on TV 24/7 screeching about how wrong they were. So where are those two creeps today? Those two especially, should be ashamed of themselves.

I took those numbers from a CNN article that read on this issue...I wouldn't swaer by them, but the Democrats never adopted a policy of blocking each and every appointment for no reason other than a Republican President had made them. If the Democrats blocked appointments it was based on the merits of that individual appointee.

Secondly, your use of the terms 'Marxist', 'Socialist' and 'Communist' are just plain idiotic.
You obviously do not know what these terms mean.

Your definition of these terms seems to be: "Anyone that I disagree with" is a Marxist and socialist and a Communist"

President Obama & the Democrtas are Progressives with some strong leanings towards liberalism. These are very different ideologies than socialists or communists.

Try reading up on the subject.

ironically, Al Sharpton even said it himself..."when America voted for Barack Obama, they voted for socialism"...but maybe we agree that Al Sharpton is an idiot too.

I don't think Obama is a marxist like karl was... I don't really think he's a socialist or a communist...but I do think the man has some real issues with using some of the same ideologies that you will find in their political schemes. The more government controls, the more "socialist" it is in it's character and follow through.

The Democrats should be punished. That would be justice. I think many feel this way about them at this point. They have done all the same things they used to whine about when the other side was in power. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Well, when they were in the minority, the Dems didn't do near the amount of obstruction as the current minority has.

Interesting....one would suspect that since the Democrats didn't obstruct...that they were INCLUDED IN EVERY PIECE OF LEGISLATION THAT WAS PASSED IN CONGRESS when they were in the minority....How about that FUCKING NOVEL IDEA!!!!!

it would be novel PP, IF it were true....but it is not, and the repubs left the democrats out of their medicare pill bill, while they let pharma actually WRITE the Bill.... :(

btw, why would pelosi, the speaker of the house have complained back when president bush did it?

in case you are unaware, the house of representatives have no say or no duty, when it comes to presidential appointments.

our constitution delegates this duty to the Senate only...

I like what Bill Maher had to say:

New Rule: You can't use the statement "there will be no cooperation for the rest of the year" as a threat if there was no cooperation in the first half of the year. Here's a word the president should take out of his teleprompter: bipartisanship. People only care about that in theory, not in practice. The best thing that's happened this year is when President Obama finally realized this and said, "Kiss my black ass, we're going it alone, George W. Bush style."

Gotta love Bill Maher.

sad fucking day for democwats when they have a supermajority and still can't git er done.. gotta do it by special appointments and "reconcilliation"" sad fucking day..

Yep. Reference: "For months they had complained that Mr. Obama was too timid in responding to Republican opposition to Mr. Becker, a former associate general counsel for the A.F.L.-C.I.O. and the Service Employees International Union. Labor leaders were also unhappy that the labor relations board has been largely paralyzed since January 2008 because only two of its five seats have been filled since then. Mr. Obama also appointed Mark Pearce, a New York labor lawyer, on Saturday to fill a fourth seat on the board. "

That would be Craig Becker <Heritage LINK

Guess that puts this nation closer to : Employee Free Choice ACT <LINK

"Organized labor's highest legislative priority is the deceptively named Employee Free Choice Act (EFCA). EFCA replaces secret ballot elections -- the method by which most workers join unions -- with publicly signed union cards. While eliminating secret ballots is extremely unpopular, many EFCA support ers argue that the legislation merely gives workers the choice between organizing using secret ballots or pub licly signed cards. This argument is false; nothing in the legislation gives workers any control over union organizing tactics. Though EFCA still allows for secret ballot elections under unusual circumstances, stan dard union organizing tactics ensure that publicly signed union cards will dominate the recognition pro cess. As a result, the misnamed Employee Free Choice Act effectively eliminates secret ballot elections."

It is a "PAYBACK" position in my opinion. Obama made the appointment when Congress left town. The appointment has been blocked in the Senate by both sides until now.

Republican Recess Appointments = "Evil & Wrong" Democrat Recess Appointments = "Good & Righteous" Well that's according to the corrupt Democrats anyway. Man,these nutters couldn't get enough air-time whining about how "Evil" Recess Appointments were back when the other side was doing it. What a scam. Make 2010 count people.

Reid is willing to accept the appointment of union-friendly lawyers.
AP

President Barack Obama has elected to bypass the Senate and unilaterally install 15 nominees, including the controversial Craig Becker to serve on the National Labor Relations Board, a move sure to infuriate Republicans..

.

The decision to install Becker - who was rejected by a GOP filibuster last month - is certain to enflame Republicans opposed to his ties to labor unions. Obama also installed Mark Pearce - another nominee favored by unions - to serve on the board.

It really doesn't matter what he does, the GOP will be inflamed anyway. That's the condition of their existence these days.

Recess appointments, regardless of what either side says, are a fact of life. As I recall, you didn't have a problem with Dubya's recess appointments. So, you're as big a hypocrite as those you're trying to call out.
