Secretary of Transportation Pete "Pothole" Buttigieg Announces Plan to Fix Roads With Lower Speed Limits and More Speed Camera Tickets for Drivers

Read this leftoid gobbledygook. Poor, poor blacks, sniff. They get caught ON CAMERAS violating driving laws more often than whites so naturally, it is somehow racist.

This bullshit is over as recent polling shows Americans have had it with all this fake racism bullshit.

When everything is racism nothing is racism. But leftoids have to keep the pot always simmering just in case they need another excuse for a quick boil as they did in 2020.

What makes you think it would be fair? The commie concept of social justice requires that they be placed in predominately white neighborhoods.

.

I didn't say it was fair. I commented on a comment about fairness and asked if there was a problem with that?

Little known detail in MN...
Using cameras to issue traffic citations is illegal in Minnesota. Minneapolis tried it in 2005, but the cameras were turned off eight months later after a judge struck down the ordinance. The state Supreme Court upheld the decision in 2007, saying it was impossible to prove who was driving from the license plate alone.

Yeah, there are lots of problems with them, including the fact that even if they take a picture of the driver, it does not positively identify the driver simply by mailing a citation to the owner's address of record.

One can simply mail back, "it was not me."

Lots of localities outsource the administration of the automated speed enforcement taxation system to commercial third parties. Many attempt to have a law enforcement officer review and attest to the validity of a ticket, but in some localities there is no penalty for simply ignoring such a ticket, as it only carries a monetary fine and no repercussions on one's license.

Reportedly, drivers in the following states can simply ignore such a ticket...

Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Maine, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, or Wisconsin

The federal government is going to use taxpayer dollars to put up speed cameras. I thought traffic enforcement was a state and city jurisdiction. Is it even legal for the federal government to enforce traffic laws? Who gets the money from the tickets? The state or the federal government?

It's well known that traffic tickets enforced by cameras can always be beaten by demanding
that the person responsible for the citation show up in court (which isn't possible) as the Constitution
requires that anyone accused of a crime has the right to confront his accuser in court.

Btw, what a typically leftist way of fixing our ever worsening roads...by turning them into speed traps.
Fuck Mayor Pete and his DOT. Another gift from Quid Pro Joe that makes me wish the midterms
were here already.

It's about the Fed giving federal dollars to localities to install automated speed camera taxation systems....

Covered here, in Pete's plan on pages 30-32 of the pdf....

Nothing is fair in commie land, everything has an agenda.

.
Yeah, the real agenda, is that these speed cameras, equipped with license plate readers, are actually going to be used for mass surveillance of the population, in an attempt to track where everyone is in real time. The speed enforcement is just a guise with a side benefit of being able to shake down people for a fines using automation technology.

In London UK, there is hardly anywhere in public one can be without being recorded on a public camera.

The same kind of surveillance police state is already underway in certain localities in the US...

(This is New London, Connecticut....)

(Here's Michigan....)

(Fulshear, Texas....)

(Colorado...)

You can be sure that the "speed cameras" will be used for a lot more than just catching speeders.

Fulsher TX is tiny, their PD is tiny. Hell their PD relies on the county sheriff for their dispatch. If you think they have the resources to spy on their 6,200 residents and the tons of people that pass through, well, you'd be delusional.

I think you mean the Police Chief must be delusional. He's the one who stated the purpose of the cameras which have license plate readers...

"At the May 19 regular council meeting, Fulshear Police Chief Kenny Seymour said his goal is to install 25 license plate readers to help his department solve burglaries and break-ins; only about 15%-20% of those cases are ever solved."

They are in use in my small town as well, and I have personally witnessed an officer confront a person who came up as suspicious (not a county resident) based soley upon their license plate at our local dump.

He couldn't fix the potholes in South Bend, and now he is in charge of the nation's transportation.

Of course, he has no real plan to fix anything, but he sure does know how to shake more fines from American commuters. He wants to use our tax dollars to install systems which will fine taxpayers even more.

Going to give out more speeding tickets in the name of "equity." So now "equity" is about punishing everyone with fines as opposed to helping the populace. Democrats bastardize absolutely everything. It's always about more restrictions, and never about more freedoms. Instead of equal opportunity for success, it's about everyone getting punished "fairly."

This administration is beyond useless; it's is downright destructive, and it probably has everything to do with appointing people based upon their skin color, gender, or sexual orientation rather then their qualifications for the job.

'You're about to get a lot more speeding tickets!' Critics slam 'Pothole Pete' Buttigieg's plan to fix the nation's roads crisis with MORE speed cameras and lower speed limits that will guarantee fines for drivers

  • Pete Buttigieg announced a plan yesterday to make the nation's roads safer
  • Tucked away in his 42-page strategy is a promise to promote safety cameras
  • Buttigieg claimed cameras are less racially biased than cops so will patrol more fairly
  • But critics say it's just a Trojan horse to fine motorists more in the way of speeding tickets
  • They questioned why Buttigieg wasn't doing more to fix roads and bridges
  • Many trashed him using the hashtag Pothole Pete - a reference to when he was the Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, and the city was ravaged by potholes
  • 'If we can't tax you to death, we'll fine you,' quipped one critic

Pete Buttigieg's plan to add more speed cameras to America's roads as a way patrolling them more 'fairly' has been panned by critics who say it will only lead to more speeding fines under the guise of equity and road safety.

Buttigieg announced the plan yesterday and claims it will reduce the number of deadly road collisions.

The highway plan is receiving some $17billion from Biden's $1.2trillion infrastructure bill, which will be used in part to pay for the cameras.

Buttigieg's 42-page plan includes a caveat to 'promote' speed camera use, which he says will be a more 'equitable' way of patrolling the roads than if cops were tasked with it.

That asshat is a clown. Nothing more.

Someone should "fix" his anus by sewing it shut. Then he wouldn't spend so much time enjoying the sodomy from his "husband", and get to work fixing this country's problems.

That's just my 2 cents worth.
He doesn't know what to do to make anything better. He has no experience, whatsoever, in the management of infrastructure. His claim to fame is that he was the mayor of South Bend, Indiana for eight years. A city with a population of 100,000 people and voted to have the worst roads in Indiana.

We're going to have a massive truck caravan going from LA to Washington this month and Buttigieg doesn't have a clue as to what to do when that happens.

I'm sure the commie States will gladly accept the cameras, red States can follow the lead of TX, where speed and red light cameras are banned.

.
Our city (Tallahassee, FL) government thought it would be great to install red-light cameras. The result, after a few years, was that they cost far more than the revenue they brought in plus accidents INCREASED. Drivers approaching a traffic signal would slam on their brakes if the light turned yellow when they would have rolled through the intersection before the cameras. A stoned driver was speeding and approaching one of our major intersections. The car in front of them slammed on the brakes when the light turned yellow and was destroyed by the drunk driver. The four passengers in the front car were all killed. The stoned driver walked away.

I'm fine if they want to use speed cameras on four-lane expressways. Follow the lead of Germany, cite drivers driving too slow in the left lane and not pulling over from the left lane if approached by a faster car. That has been proven to REDUCE accidents. About a year later the cameras vanished.
