ivan, your Ivan the terrible is the real Vlad Dracula

Vlad 'Dracula' Tzepesh, Voivodie of Wallachia was a real historical person, too. And the 'Tale of warchief Dracula' became for the Russians something like 'The Prince' of Niccolo Machiavelli became for the Western European.
Of course, British propaganda depicted both Vlad III and Ivan IV as monsters.

Technically, Diakovo settlement on the lands of the modern Moscow had became a fortified city in III century. Yes, it wasn't Slavic in that time, but Finno-Hungarian tribal union was strong enough to defeat the Goths, who captured Kiev (pre-Slavic settlements on its place) and Rome. And Kiev became a 'mother of Russian cities' when it was captured by Prince of Novgorod (Northern Russia) Oleg in 882. Novgorod was much more rich and powerful city that Kiev in that time.

d) Georgia 2008
Georgia 2008 was not much of a Russian victory other than the fact that Russia still holds two pieces of Georgian territory.

Every time the Russian Army met the Georgian Army, the Russians were crushed, and the Russian Army spent the entire war staying well away from the Georgian Army.

Unfortunately Georgia only had enough troops to secure their capital and not the rest of their country, so the Russians were able to spend a few days out in the countryside raping civilians. But after a few days of having no hope of even approaching Georgia's capital city, Russia withdrew their army and sent them back home.
