I love how the repukes continue to beat the drum about how teaching the christian bible, and your own personal beliefs... to a mixed crowd, will help solve anything...

That if ofcourse, ignoring a lot of facts about the school.

Facts like.. there is no power structure in them... there is no order, there are no rules, and there is no discipline, and the curriculum is half assed.

No Gym
No Recess
No Dress code (if there is, its scant, and still unprofessional street clothes)
No Art
No Music
No Acting
No Geography
No History

Now they don't even teach English.

No home economics
No life skills
No Job training
No drivers education

Combine all that is lacking, with a Half assed bullshit science class mashed together, probably all taught by the same teacher

And they even have kids with mental and learning problems going to regular education school facilities.. and then those WITH problems who DO get put into an "approved private school".. are also thrown in, with a mish mash of people with DIFFERENT problems, therefore making their problem worse.

The school curriculum is not designed to give the kids an education, but to make it easier for the union teachers, and easier to become a teacher.

And little discipline there is in those schools is more appropriate for an adult, than for the child that they are.

Being told to pack your bags and get out, is what you tell and unruly 22 year old, not a 16 year old.

What you do with a 16 year old, is you drag him by the neck to the principals office, or the bathroom.. and whoop his ass with a leather belt.

The lack of a structure, is why schools in the USA are so bad.

A high school diploma doesn't mean shit.

as for the idea that having order and structure in schools would cause suicide... that idea is bullshit.

it 8 hours a day, 5 days a week... its YOUR job to love your kids.. the teacher is not there to love your kids.

No Gym - Both my elementary aged son and my middle school aged son have gym class.
No Recess - 2 or 3 recess during elementary school, none during middle and high school.
No Dress code (if there is, its scant, and still unprofessional street clothes) - There's a dress code, it's just not bible thumper friendly (ties and skirts).
No Art - Art is still done in elementary school. Middle school has electives, with Art being one of them.
No Music - Elementary, middle and high school still have music and chorus, it's choice now.
No Acting - Only high school has drama classes, it's an elective.
No Geography - Elementary, middle school and high school all have geography classes.
No History - Elementary, middle school and high school all have history classes

Now they don't even teach English - What?

No home economics - They have it in high school.
No life skills - Integrated throughout the curriculum at all levels. What life skills are you referring to?
No Job training - WTF? What job training do they need?
No drivers education - It's all privatized where we are.

Combine all that is lacking, with a Half assed bullshit science class mashed together, probably all taught by the same teacher - Elementary teachers teach almost all subjects including science. In middle school and high school they have dedicated science teachers. Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

And they even have kids with mental and learning problems going to regular education school facilities.. and then those WITH problems who DO get put into an "approved private school".. are also thrown in, with a mish mash of people with DIFFERENT problems, therefore making their problem worse - Yep.

The lack of a structure, is why schools in the USA are so bad - Bad compared to what? Homogeneous cultures that restrict immigration and don't mainstream their "problem" kids? Other countries with tracking? Yes, we are.

A high school diploma doesn't mean shit - Not really, try doing anything without one.

as for the idea that having order and structure in schools would cause suicide... that idea is bullshit - Agreed.

it 8 hours a day, 5 days a week... its YOUR job to love your kids.. the teacher is not there to love your kids - What? I'm not sure what you're saying?

I'm not following really what you're getting at so I answered as best I could.

WH Counterterror Chief: Parents Need to Watch for ‘Sudden Personality Changes in Their Children’
April 17, 2014 -- In a speech delivered at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government on Tuesday evening, White House Homeland Security and Counterterrorism Adviser Lisa Monaco said it could help prevent terrorism if parents watched for “sudden personality changes in their children at home.”
“President Obama has been laser-focused on making sure we use all the elements of our national power to protect Americans, including developing the first government-wide strategy to prevent violent extremism in the United States,” said Monaco, in a transcription posted by the White House. “At the same time, we recognize that there are limits to what the federal government can do,” said Monaco. “So we must rely on the partnership of those who are most familiar with the local risks, those who are in the best position to take action—local communities.

“Local communities are the most powerful asset we have in the struggle against violence and violent extremism,” she said. “We’ve crunched the data on this. In the more than 80 percent of cases involving homegrown violent extremists, people in the community—whether peers or family members or authority figures or even strangers—had observed warning signs a person was becoming radicalized to violence. But more than half of those community members downplayed or dismissed their observations without intervening. “So it’s not that the clues weren’t there, it’s that they weren’t understood well enough to be seen as the indicators of a serious problem,” said Monaco.

“What kinds of behaviors are we talking about?” she said. “For the most part, they’re not related directly to plotting attacks. They’re more subtle. For instance, parents might see sudden personality changes in their children at home—becoming confrontational. Religious leaders might notice unexpected clashes over ideological differences. Teachers might hear a student expressing an interest in traveling to a conflict zone overseas. Or friends might notice a new interest in watching or sharing violent material.

“The government is rarely in a position to observe these early signals, so we need to do more to help communities understand the warning signs, and then work together to intervene before an incident can occur, while always respecting our core commitment to protecting privacy and civil liberties,” said Monaco. “During the past several years, that’s what we’ve attempted to do."
