Does America's brand of multiculturalism give you goosebumps?

Since the holidays are upon us, I wanted to offer a more 'fable-like' vignette about pluralism sentimentality in America. America is, after all, a land of great 'theatricality.'

Cheers (signing off),

A chic night-club in NYC featured women dressed in Arabian gear every Friday night. A comic book writer/artist named Ajay would attend this night-club's events and go every Friday for drinks. Ajay was from Algeria originally, so he appreciated the authentic Arabian costumes. Ajay noticed attractive Caucasian-American women in Arabian costumes and began wondering if he should start dating a white woman, even though he was from Algeria.

Ajay liked to dress in outlandish gear himself for his posts about his comic book art/fiction, so he'd look like an 'eccentric writer.' It was a visual form of pseudonym-caricaturization. Ajay liked blending ancient mythology avatars such as Medusa (Ancient Greek demon-deity of hypnosis) and new world comic book characters like Marvel's Black Cat (a rogue female vigilante) in short-stories about pornography and censorship in the age of media and journalism. Ajay also wrote about Captain America dealing with the Ku Klux Klan.

Ajay's writings became very popular, and he was hired by the New Yorker to make comics-stylized political cartoons and short-stories. Soon, he got a big office and was given a secretary named Eliza to help him with various office-tasks so he could focus on his art/writings. Eliza was a pretty Caucasian-American woman, and Ajay started thinking about the white women in Arabian costumes at the NYC night-club which prompted him to consider begin dating a white woman. Ajay decided to ask Eliza out on a date and she said 'yes'(!).

Ajay took Eliza to a hip new NYC restaurant co-owned by Hollywood (USA) celebrities Tom Hanks and Tom Cruise. The restaurant was a pseudo-bistro called Media Fare, and it served American, continental, Eurasian, and Mediterranean cuisine to 'accent' modern society's celebration of pluralism/confluence in America created by movies/media. Since it was December and close to Christmas, Ajay ordered the entree Christmas Hummus-Ham with Spinach for himself and Eliza. They both liked it, and Ajay began wondering if Eliza appreciated the 'non-Western' flavor of the dish, even though she was born and raised in America. Ajay also wondered if Hanks/Cruise were intentionally trying to reach a multicultural customer-base with their offbeat menu items/dishes.

When Ajay took Eliza home for some late-night wine, he wanted to ask her what she thought about dating an Algerian-American. Eliza was confused by the question and returned his inquiry with a question of her own --- she asked Ajay if he was dating a white woman since he wasn't interested (specifically) in Algerian women(!). Ajay laughed and got the sarcasm Eliza was trying to send as a message. Eliza then revealed to Ajay that even though she had no 'racist qualms' with dating an Algerian-American, she was however a practicing Satanist who was looking for an 'open-minded' intellectual (such as Ajay!) to marry. Ajay was a little surprised about Eliza's interest in the Occult but decided he really liked her. They got married two months later, and everything was going alright. Then, one day, Eliza told Ajay about the Green Dragon she kept hidden in her heart.

ELIZA: The Green Dragon represents envy.
AJAY: Why're you telling me this?
ELIZA: I want you to understand my Satanic beliefs.
AJAY: Your beliefs are your business, Eliza...
ELIZA: Well, you were asking me about our 'biracial status.'
AJAY: That's different! I only wanted to know your opinion.
ELIZA: Oh, well, I'm still your secretary at the New Yorker!
AJAY: Of course you are; don't think I'd fire you because you're Satanic.
ELIZA: Remember that Christmas ham-dish we shared at Media Fare?
AJAY: That Hanks/Cruise restaurant in the city?
ELIZA: That's the one.
AJAY: What about it? I liked it too.
ELIZA: All these ideas about 'taste' and 'class' are merely 'myths.'
AJAY: Myths? I suppose 'etiquette-arrogance' can create myopia/bigotry.
ELIZA: The Christmas ham we shared should dispel your worries about biracial myths!
AJAY: I see what you mean...it's all about 'tastebuds' and not 'taste.'
ELIZA: Exactly, dear! I'll always be your Satanic secretary...
AJAY: Only in America can everyday magic arise from strange relationships.
ELIZA: Only in America...
