Sarah Palin: Trump's Carrier deal is 'crony capitalism'

Libtards are fine with crony capitalism as long as Obama or any other Democrat is doing it. However, they get on their high horse when the Republicans do it.

There is a word for that in the English language. The word is "hypocrisy".

It is good that Palin called it out. However, it is comical to see the Moon Bats all of a sudden make like they are appalled.

Not really. I think there are a lot of cases where a tax credit is called for.

This wasn't one of them. UT is doing just fine. They get billions in government business.

They got 7 million a year in incentives, IN keeps 21.5 million in State income tax and the feds keep 19.5 million in income taxes by keeping those jobs in the US. Who got the better deal?

Source for the numbers?

His ass.

What tax rate does a State need to collect 21.5 million in income tax from 1000 blue collar jobs?

Eric Bolling on Fox today. Carrier will be keeping close to 80 million in payroll in IN, IN has a 3.5% income tax, feds he figured at an average of 25%.

3.5% of 80 million in payroll for 1000 jobs = 21.5 million? want to do that math again?

2.8 million. Minus 7 million in incentives = 5 million dollar hole.

Ok, my mistake, tell me, what's 60 million in economic activity worth to the State, in sales taxes, property taxes and so on? And we haven't even discussed payroll taxes, unemployment insurance and other benefits.

Also no one has offered a shred of evidence that UT is a crony of Trump. So where the hell is this accusation of corny capitalism coming from?

Umm...Palin according to OP. (unless you really mean corny capitalism, then it is just you ;))

Kind of like Obama bailing out GM and Chrysler to save the filthy UAW that had given so much money to the Democrats and giving all that money to the Solyndra executives that did the bundling for his campaign.

The only difference is that Trump is not getting anything out of it.

Besides, all the Moon Bats think Palin is dumb so why are they now listening to her?
Yeah we get it:

Obama saves 1.5 million jobs via a stimulus package he's a socialist pig.
Trump saves 1000 jobs via a stimulus package he's a hero...

Yeah...right..:cuckoo:

Yep and every regressive on the thread is echoing it with zero justification. Why didn't you answer my other question?

I think you'll find their appalled at the hypocrisy started by the right when Obama did it. You start this kind of shit and when others react to a similar incident you seem surprised. How bizarre...

The answer is if you define crony capitalism as special government payoffs to companies then this would be a clear example of that. Doesn't matter what clown Palin said or didn't say, this is about consistent ideas vs reactionist arguments of convenience.

MY problem with it is not what type of capitalism this is, but where it leads to - never ending rounds of extortions by the companies with zero sum game for workers and governments.

I don't think you or half of these other mooks have any idea what crony capitalism is. How about giving us your definition.

Wow, you sure got me!!!! :2up:
It's political favoritism to specific business thus a government choosing the winners and losers by rewarding favorites businesses with contracts, tax breaks; etc.

There it is again: The holy, god-given law that there may be no intervention in the market. So it is a bad thing that Trump saved many jobs even before he was sworn in. It is, now it comes:

"SOCIALISM"!

Evil! May those Americans find a new job, or two. Or Food stamps. Wait, no Food stamps. They are:

"SOCIALISM"!
There is hardly a state in the union that does not use its taxing power to attract business.
Indiana is giving Carrier a whopping $700k per per year for 10 years to keep those jobs in Indianapolis.
The fact is if Trump or any other Republican had ENCOURAGED Carrier to move all the jobs out, the lefties would be all over this....

Trump did it to honor his campaign promise, but he knows the only way to stop the outsourcing is to lower tax and regulation, reform or most likely withdraw from NAFTA, and tariffs on goods coming in to the country.
Nope, Trump didn't even remember making his campaign promise...

"But they were doing a story on Carrier. And I say, 'wow, that's something. I want to see that. And they had a gentleman, worker... great guy... handsome guy... he was on. And it was like he didn't even know they were leaving. He said something to the effect, 'no, we're not leaving because Donald Trump promised us that we're not leaving.' And I never thought I made that promise. Not with Carrier."

A crony is someone a person has a close relationship with, could be a friend, donor, supporter for people in government. Any proof there is a prior relationship between UT and Trump?

Do you think Trumps promises to make the US more business friendly, with a reduction in taxes and regulations, played a part in UTs decision?

You also have yet to address what keeping that 60 million in after tax economic activity in IN would mean for the State.

Oh, I was supposed to look up someone else's opinion of the term "crony capiatalism"?
You asked me for my own description, which is actually, more accurate than yours.

Those aren't opinions, they are dictionary definitions, clearly you and others have no idea what the terms your throwing around mean. Not only is your definition of crony capitalism not accurate, it's not even close.

Your dear leader rewarded real cronies, big donors, big time supporters, so far no one has established that any previous relationship between Trump and UT even existed.

That is not definition Pailn and many conservative use:

When government steps in arbitrarily with individual subsidies, favoring one business over others, it sets inconsistent, unfair, illogical precedent.....we know special interest crony capitalism is one big fail.

According to their wide definition any special government deal for a company is ideologically wrong.
