Santorum SLAMS Protestants--states they are no longer Christians.

I knew a chick who posed for biker mag pics. Secretary of my old boss.
She thought she was a "model"

LMAO
I used to cough "skank" whenever I'd talk to her.

And the whole time you were secretly begging and praying for her to accidentally make eye contact with you.

What were his words exactly? That mainstream protestants aren't Christians? Did you read the speech? Please point to where he says that exactly. I'll be waiting.

Translation:

Let me paraphrase what he said into my own words. Then, when you can't find him using exactly MY words, I'm going to call you a liar for saying that he said something that means the exact same thing.

On today’s Up with Chris Hayes, the host unveiled a 2008 talk by Rick Santorum that could possibly be the only thing to make him lose the American religious vote: one in which he condemns “mainline protestantism,” of all things, and claims it is now “gone from the world of Christianity.” Needless to say, these sorts of words coming from a Catholic cannot inspire confidence in the sort of voter that looked askance at John F. Kennedy for being a Papist.

The speech is from a 2008 event at Ave Maria College in Florida, where Santorum notes that America was founded upon a Christian philosophy but “the Judeo-Christian ethic was a Protestant one.” “We look at the shape of mainline protestantism in this country and it is in shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it,” he concludes.

Obviously a big BLOOPER for Rick Santorum--basically bashing the people that have been supporting him. Not everyone in this country is Catholic--in fact the overwhelming majority are Evangelicals--that fall under his attack of Protestant's. Certainly, this is something that Rick Santorum wishes--was never dug up--but the news is out now--and is seeping into the news media.

I am really not certain right now if this candidate didn't miss his calling in life. I think Santorum is much better suited to be a Catholic Priest than the POTUS.

I wouldn't expect non-Christians to understand his remarks. They were not a condemnation, they were an observation. Within the protestant churches, this has been discussed for decades. Many churches such as the United Metodist have slowly "evolved" away from being as evangelical as they once were and have embraced more liberal directions. They are not what they once were. Simple as that.

Nor are the Catholics. (Vatican II)

I too support the nomination of Santorum as the GOP Candidate. May Rick succeed in snagging that nomination.

It's like Soviet Communists supporting Gorbachev.

How'd that work for you?
The Communists supported Gorbachev, who put them out of power. So worked out fine. Same thing will happen here. Santorum will be the favorite of Dems, thinking he's a loser. When he beats Obama they will be wondering what hit them.

.

And the pounding on the doors of Christie, Daniels, Bush and Ryan grow louder by the minute....

.
My Chris Christie theory is that he wouldn't mind getting drafted as president late in the game, but knew that he did not have the stamina to actually campaign for the job, due to his morbid obesity.

I'm not seeing the problem with his statement. A lot of the Protestant Churches have lost sight of their goal. They just see their church as a business where it's a nice place to have a wedding or a funeral. They really don't have a message anymore.

Wow, that's some top-quality talking out of your ass. You obviously have never set foot inside of a Southern Baptist Church.

Actually Christy's stands on guns and pretty much everything else would make him anathema to most GOP voters.
And campaigned plenty for governor of NJ. So you're talking out of your ass. Again.

There's no reason for them to do so.

I do think Jeb fully plans to run in 2016.

First, after 8 years, people will forget about Katrina, not care so much about Iraq (where people will be yelling "Who Lost Iraq" when it becomes an Iranian satellite State) and just kind of remember that under George W. Bush, we didn't consider 8% unemployment as "acceptable".

Obama can't run again, and after the slaughters of 2010, and the impending one of 2014, the Democrats will have a very thin bench.

Bush (whose wife is Hispanic) could appeal to Hispanics.
Bush – Democrat – Bush – Democrat – Bush.

Yeah, like that's gonna happen.

Neg rep to the OP for distortion.

So we have a 4 year old speech by Santorum in which he probably bemoans the fact that many mainline protestant churches have taken up the liberal social agenda rather than traditional church work. This is a criticism made by many others.

People must be desperately scared of Santorum, who they dismissed 6 months ago as unelectable.

Yes, just like we Pheared the Phred and we were terrified of Sarah Palin.

Idiot.

Well what do you know? Protestants practice a phony theology too!
And they are about to hit the voting booths, in the South. :)

Well, we protestants believe the catholics practice a fake theology too, so there you go. It all depends on which side of the fence one sits on.

Rabbi, Santorum can't beat Obama. Social conservatism runs the independents off needed to win. The fiscal house of the nation has to be put in order before even thinking about tackling any social issues. The only hope of beating Obama is with a fiscal conservative, not a social conservative. AS appealing as one may be to you, they are a turn off to more people than they are an attraction. Just the way it is. It will be used against him and to great effect.

How is this a political issue?

Because you have a candidate that is so into the Catholic church--who is out there every single day--wearing--Christianity on his sleeve--he's scary.

YOU SEEM to forget that our forefathers RISKED their lives--when coming to this country--in order to escape the religious persecution coming from the Catholic church. They were called Protestants.

It's okay with you that he insulted the millions upon millions of Baptists, Methodists, Luthrens, Presberterians, Episcapalians, and all other protestants, he might as well called them all INFIDELS.

And for all you far right fringe Christians, have you seen this? in my humble opinion to be considered a conservative you should have a conservative voting record to go along with that conservative social record. For your enjoyment: and more to come. Please take notice that this add will be run by Ron Paul NOT Mitt Romney.
