Convenience store owner Vida Ofori Causey out of Worcester, Mass. was charged in federal court Monday after pleading guilty to $3.6 million worth of food stamp fraud.

According to authorities, Causey abused the program between 2010 and 2014. Food stamps, officially known as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), is run by local and federal agencies. It is overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). She was able to scam the program by buying food stamp benefits from receipts for half the actual value.

“Causey purchased the benefits at a discounted value of approximately fifty cents for every SNAP dollar,” a press release from Department of Justice stated. “By so doing, Causey caused the USDA to electronically deposit into a bank account controlled by her the full face value of the SNAP benefits fraudulently obtained.”

Now that the Supreme Court has concluded that Obamacare is a tax, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has trashed the uninsured–those whom the Affordable Care Act was supposed to benefit–as “free riders.” Pelosi, speaking to Audie Cornish of National Public Radio, explained that new taxes were necessary because some (many?) of the uninsured actively choose not to buy health insurance, even though they can afford it.
Pelosi’s change in attitude towards the uninsured is a complete about-face from the rhetoric that she and the Democrats used in pushing for the massive legislation in 2009-10. Then, Democrats bombarded Americans with heart-wrenching stories–many of them false, particularly those told by President Barack Obama–about the 30, 40, or 50 million people without health insurance. Those who pointed to research that over 40 percent of the uninsured were “voluntary” were dismissed as heartless corporate shills or racists.

Today, Pelosi tells us that the uninsured deserve our contempt because they impose a cost on all of us when they show up injured or ill in the hospital. They are “free riders,” she said, and the new taxes in Obamacare are needed to solve the problems they create. That almost sounds like a conservative argument–but it does not explain why the health insurance system has to be overhauled for the other 300-million-plus Americans.

What about those millions of illegal aliens in this country, who have no insurance and get free healthcare, thanks to the Democratic Party? What about the 40% of Americans who pay no income taxes, don’t work, and collect welfare?

Oh and as for universal health care?? Who in their right mind wants the Government responsible for the healthcare of 300 million Americans?

The private industry has failed. You KNEW that people were getting inadequate or no health care or jacked around by the insurance companies and you did nothing. You KNEW that the choice for many of the elderly is medication or rent. You did nothing. You KNEW that hospital mergers were and are increasing medical costs. You did nothing. You KNEW hospitals were not paying property taxes with their super-secret method of choosing whom to count as charity, therefore forcing tax payers to cover the cost of property taxes. You did nothing. You KNEW that we had Medicaid divorces. You did nothing.

But because it was more important for you to scream socialist instead of looking at the issues that were inherent with the health care that we had, YOU handed this over to Obamacare which had nothing to do with the quality of care and everything to do with making sure that the insurance companies got theirs. Now, the elderly are impacted. Now people cannot acquire necessary surgeries because they have to pay for those up front.

The Govt. who has never done anything cheaply or well in its entire history.

Because they keep outsourcing to the private sector.

The Govt. where everything turns into mountains of red tape, regulations and bullshit.
