NRW landlord takes "entrance fee" for his restaurant
A landlord from North Rhine-Westphalia is now drawing his conclusions - and charging an "entrance fee" for his restaurant, as reported by WDR. At "Cedric's" in Ratingen (near Düsseldorf), every guest has recently had to pay an additional three euros - children excluded.
On the restaurant's website it says: "Dear guests, due to the extremely increased costs in the area of purchasing, personnel and energy, we are unfortunately forced to charge a cost contribution of €3 per guest."
Operator Horst Ingendorn explains to WDR: "Because I'm constantly buying and ordering, I'm close to the prices and notice how this is now increasing every day. And then at some point I pulled the ripcord and said, we have to do something now." Because meat, Ingendorn calculates, is between 30 and 50 percent more expensive, vegetables also about 30 percent. Ingendorn has registered an unbelievable price increase for frying fat (100 percent) and energy costs (2,000 percent).
