San Diego to buy clip-on cameras to monitor police conduct

This sounds good, but I see potential loopholes. Can the cameras be turned off by the officer? What happens if the officer puts his hand over the lens? Is sound being recorded as well?

There are five (and only five) states that will not admit a confession or admission into evidence at trial unless it is written or recorded. Only five states have that requirement. In the other 45, cops can (and do) lie their teeth off about purported confession and/or admissions, and defendants are going to prison in droves because of it.

Even where a recorder is used, it can never record what goes on between the cop and the suspect before (or after) the recorder is turned on (or off). Recorder not turned on yet: "All right, mother fucker - you are going to give us a full confession or we are going to arrest your wife too, and all of your kids will wind up in protective care. Got that?" Suspect: "Yes, sir." Recorder turned on: full confession follows.
